Secular decline in profit continues at the interims. Looks like they are on a current year PER of circa 13.5 so the share price could still potentially decline by a further 20% to 25% from current levels.

.. interestingly structured article ...

The interim results to June 2010 showed sales of £2.6 million (2009: £2.6 million), pre-tax profit of £412,000 (2009: £506,000) and EPS of 0.32p (2009: 0.39p). The company reported that gross margin was 63.4% (2009: 63.3%); Ireland made an operating profit of £154,000 (2009: £50,300); the US storage facilities based around the Westech acquisition are being modelled on Ireland - it is due to receive its first samples in q4 2010; order intake for equipment sales was £1.1 million (2009: £794,000) - visible income for H2 totals £1.0 million; period end net debt was£2.2 million (2009: £2.6 million).
Research Standing
An interesting business achieving attractive growth and margins - its storage business converts its products into a service producing recurring revenues. In 2006, 81% of sales were in the UK - part of the growth strategy is to expand into overseas markets as well as identifying new markets requiring controlled storage conditions.

LOL.
I cannot not imagine Labcold storing books and films.

It does raise the question of classification
VDN is a Medical Equipment business moving into specialist storage (warehousing!).
I believe they should divide their sales, Healthcare and Scientific, into three so as to distinguish between their products and not confuse their clients.

Something like ...

HEALTHCARE
• Fridges and Freezers
• Blood Banks
• Plasma Freezers
• Incubators

SCIENTIFIC
• Environmental Rooms and Cabinets
• Photostability Cabinets
• Plant Growth Cabinets
• Ovens

SERVICES
• Disaster Recovery Management
• Outsourced Stability Storage
• Validation, Service and Repair

A competitor ....

Today, Labcold is established as the largest specialist manufacturer and supplier of medical and laboratory refrigerators and freezers in the UK. Labcold refrigerators and freezers developed a reputation with large corporate and medical establishments as being safe, secure and reliable through its quality construction and performance with appropriate safety and monitoring facilities. Labcold British Standard blood bank refrigerators are now the UK market leader, complemented by a variety of other temperature related products for a blood transfusion department use. Following on from this success a range of laboratory incubators was developed featuring models designed and manufactured to suit a wide variety of applications.
