Foot, self - shot in - not in selling Ror on the bounce. Missed 230p but had 227p on the screen.
Hey ho, diddly do.

The retirement of his predecessor is a body blow to Ror. He will not be replaed in the short term.

ROR board makes good reading ....
...except for this:

Gary joined Rotork in September 2015 as General Manager of the Bifold Group, a role he retains as well as the position of Group Innovation Director. Innovative design engineering has been a major area of activity in his career, where he has gained a wealth of experience and knowledge of products and markets relevant to Rotork.
Appointed to the Board

Bifold timing was dreadful for ROR - it's O&G innit.
Good to see "tailwinds" :-)
Trying to disentangle the OCC stuff - might give up.
Current oil price vibes should lift all boats.
The breadth of ROR is making it difficult for me. At one level it creates diversity and insulates from the worst of the O&G shock. At another level it takes away a distinct identity and I am uncomfortable with serial acquisitions.
I'm running it with the sector for a while, but may top-slice if this uncomfortable feeling doesn't go away.
Market surprised by ROR, but not by HLMA/SPX.

Ror
Still digesting the results, but overall probably better than the market was expecting. It looks like the 2015 purchase was ill timed and it will take alot of time, work and cost to put that right.
Currency will be a major saviour for the year.
Spx
As a share with limited free flow of shares in the market place, the share price jumped about a bit in early dealings. The results were a bit mixed and probably in line with what might have been expected. Maybe a little disappointing, but it shows how hard it is to operate in the present world economy.
Watson Marlow continues to be the jewel in the crown.
The share price volatility perhaps indicated the two way pull on initial reading of the results.

Snap judgement at this point.
Either way, I am happy to hold for the long term.
If marking Ror, I would tell them to stop the buying of new companies' for the near term, and concentrate on cash building.

HLMA/ROR/SPX news tomorrow.

GSK should be moving on dollar and inhaler news. Massive inertia! Interesting. I guess it's just that the focus is elsewhere.

Still impressed with PTSG, but it is so illiquid there doesn't seem much point.

That is the fun in markets. We all come to the party with different ideas, aims and objectives. Some we win and we hope that we don't get too many losers.

VANL is transformative for the company, but it is a long-term plan. Impressive management and I'm sure they will be able to dominate in a way they couldn't before. But they will have to work those assets.
Not for me.

You are right, of course, but it will be interesting to see how Vanl pans out post float. Sometimes it is a leap of faith, rather than hard research and analysis.
I didn't finish my due diligence and now I think that I have time on my side.
IPO's can be very volatile. many of the investors will want to stag the issue, so there might be an overhang at some time in the near future if a big seller appears. The directors have a lock in for now.
I didn't get as far as dividends but I don't think that they will be paying one anytime soon..

Bree has to integrate Hope, which is a big digestive exercise. It may well tread water for a while.

BREE assets to process and sell.
VANL assets to rent.
Different model.

Not going out:

Walking can add minutes to your life.
This enables you at 85 years old to spend
an additional 5 months in a nursing home
at $7000 per month.

My grandpa started walking
five miles a day when he was 60.
Now he's 97 years old and we don't know where the hell he is.

I like long walks,
especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

The only reason I would take up walking
is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I have to walk early in the morning,
before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

I joined a health club last year ... spent about 400 bucks.
Haven't lost a pound.
Apparently you have to go there..

Every time I hear the dirty word 'exercise',
I wash my mouth out with chocolate.

I do have flabby thighs,
but fortunately my stomach covers them.

The advantage of exercising every day
is so when you die, they'll say,
....'Well, she looks good doesn't she.'

If you are going to try cross-country skiing,
start with a small country.

I know I got a lot of exercise the last few years,.......
...... just getting over the hill.

We all get heavier as we get older,
because there's a lot more information in our heads.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Good luck.
I read APAD's post 7115, in which he comments about capex spend. It looks like the board wants to expend the business to another level, hence the gearing up.
I could, perhaps should, have taken the plunge at 101p when I first looked at them.
It may well be worth waiting until "the first post-float financial disappointment" as APAD says, but the more likely outcome will be a better than forecast set of results.

"In order to support these activities, the Group has invested significantly in recent years in its capital equipment to expand, update and refresh its fleet of piling rigs and specialist engineering attachments. In the four year period ended 30 April 2016, Van Elle invested approximately £18.5m in plant and equipment, increasing the Group’s rig fleet from 53 to 98. In addition, the Group has invested £4.8m over the same period in its facilities, including the expansion of its precast concrete manufacturing capabilities following the acquisition of the Kirkby-in-Ashfield site in 2013."

So, VANL needs this plant to be fully utilised in the short term in order to deliver on the promise of AIM flotation. Along with new facilities it has wonderful shiny new everything to deliver on the newly spending rail and general infrastructure industries who are desperate to drill holes in the ground.

Worth watching for the first post-float financial disappointment and a real pick-up in infrastructure spending.

OK. I must be asleep. Where is the news about Mr. Harrison's 100K sale? I don't see anything on the BVXP website.

Never mind...... Just found the answer on the BVXP BB -

Might be a buying opportunity. If only I had some cash!

I was researching Van Elle but took too long.
It has jumped to 110p from 101p in that time.
I must work more efficiently in future.
