02/3/2017 10:21 | I have added too yesterday. I would like to think my timing like yours is good! | gac141
01/3/2017 22:45 | Looks like 50p target to me. Glad I halved my stake further up. Would be looking to add back, but want to see firm support. | brucie5

01/3/2017 00:38 | Here's the link: It'll be interesting to see how they get on with the commercialisation of their new process, and how it compares with vls's long haul to glory. | supernumerary
28/2/2017 23:54 | You are correct: they were more ambitious and looked at HDS and steam reforming in addition to FT. However about 5 years ago, they arrived at the conclusion that they had to focus on their best shot at commercialization which is FT. | fluky
28/2/2017 23:24 | Oh well, I expect you know better than I do. I just seem to remember back in the early days they were more ambitious, and assumed they might have some relevant ip eg: 'The company's base metal catalysts focus on three main applications: hydrodesulphurisatio "The market for FT and HDS catalysts is immense," says Derek Atkinson, business development director for FT and HDS at Oxford Catalysts. "HDS is already a billion-dollar market and growing. The potential market in 2020 for FT catalysts, should all biofuels be made via this route, is around $4 bn/annum." The company's big developments in the HDS and FT areas are based around a new patented catalyst preparation method to produce catalysts that not only perform better than existing catalysts, but also reduce – or in some cases – eliminate the requirement for expensive and increasingly scarce precious metal promoters. "This," says Atkinson, "not only saves resources. It also leads to big savings for users." ' | supernumerary
28/2/2017 22:54 | Most of the catalysts are developed to accelerate one particular chemical reaction or a family of reactions. The Velocys catalyst discovered at the University of Oxford by Prof Malcolm Greene and dr Tiancun Xiao was designed to catalyze the Fischer Tropsch (FT) synthesis. This is similar to drug development: a drug is developed for a specific disease and it is rare that it cures other diseases as well. | fluky
28/2/2017 20:29 | I'll take your word for it - what's the difference with these catalysts then? | supernumerary
28/2/2017 19:31 | supernumerary - you know when you travel to the States and you meet someone who promptly says, "Awww, you're all from the UK? You must know so and so.". Just because one company has some specialty expertise in one area of fuels, doesn't mean they have expertise over the pond. ;-) | sheep_herder
28/2/2017 10:59 | Interesting development: It would be nice if VLS's ip base and expertise in catalysts could be put to use like this - it would surely be an easier business selling such tech to existing refiners than it is building their own GTL plants. The potential market of course is huge. | supernumerary
23/2/2017 10:15 | David Pummell " We are bringing in Key Partners, Future Partners and Investors and actually that is happening later this month" Very exciting for the team at Velocys to show and demonstrate the new plant to key people who will help shape our company going forward. Do not underestimate the importance of this!..happening now... | gac141
23/2/2017 07:34 | If it closes below 60 for two days or so, in all likelihood this would go down again. Only a convincing break above 100p will substantiate recent wave of euphoria. | tongosti
22/2/2017 15:34 | Visionon: bitter? I don't think so, I was close enough...unfortunate gac141: Now I understand why you did not react on some of the questions directed at you! Anyway, I hope someone else responds on this post so that he might read it. I simply remain a skeptical investor as I said in post #2713: "I was taught that a savvy investor approaches his/her investments with a healthy dose of skepticism." | fluky
22/2/2017 09:45 | EJ.Thank you for your insight. I too have a large holding in VLS. I look forward to us both having a more successful 2017 and beyond. | gac141
22/2/2017 09:28 | Interesting note EJ. You have clearly a large holding in VLS, makes me wonder how we have not seen you in strength in QFI. Several folks, like me, hold both & they have similar histories & stories. As you have had bad years, perhaps it's in your past? | haydock
21/2/2017 11:07 | Good to see Oil on the rise again.. Iran is not making any friends at the moment. Particularly with the US. $60/b may not be far off. | gac141
21/2/2017 10:17 | You must be related. I wonder why people spend the time commenting on a company they obviously have no investment in .......... Let's see if you and flunky still exist by Christmas. | gac141
21/2/2017 08:28 | GAC, Fluky is one of the only posters here who knows what he is taking about, should probably listen. I get it tho, you're all in and not selling till the fat lady sings so why pay attention to facts like the company is running out of cash this year and has no orders. Please, if you disagree, please state the facts that lead you to do so | melktest
20/2/2017 17:35 | This isn't directly related, but would be a fantastic proof of concept that would hopefully offer another consumer of green jet fuels in the future. | sheep_herder
20/2/2017 17:28 | Thanks Visionon...I don't see his posts as I got mild depression from them. Yes it did seem odd that despite the high prediction price mentioned he/she had been consistently negative; this still persists then. Perhaps I'll have a look to cheer myself up... ;) Asia looks very exciting but I don't just think that is where all the excitement is going to come from..... Visitors/Partners/In | gac141
20/2/2017 17:02 | gac141. many thanks for highlighting malcy's blog. I enjoyed the read - some interesting snippets. I would hate to be like fluky, glass constantly half empty and trying to belittle any positive talk by our resident bull, and despite having elected for 125p (subject to a series of tedious caveats) in the xmas share price competition...perhap Asia. now that could be a very big market indeed. And the Chinese tend to get on with things with their 5yr plans. | visionon
20/2/2017 16:31 | The size of the plants in China, made in partnership will be the most cost effective in the market and of course here, as in the USA, bank financing and loan guarantees are available at the right times. I am reliably informed that much progress is being made in some key areas in China particularly where stranded gas is also a problem. Whatever the views, which will be forthcoming, I think this is significant news. ] | haydock |
