Problem for vela is the lack of visibility of the progress being made by their investments. Airportr on the face of it sounds like it is getting considerable traction, but we likely won't know until September/October time when they have to file their annual accounts. Last year's accounts don't reflect the business that airportr have been doing during 2016, so it's difficult to really gauge how well they're progressing. Btl is a little easier, since they're quoted, and actually, they seem to be doing rather well at the moment - already generating revenue,so eitheron track against their business plan,or even slightly ahead of it. Their other business however, have much less visibility. Anyone heard much about how vibe is getting along for instance? I suppose the real catalyst for vela, is if either / both of Btl and airportr get bought out/ float, respectively.... L.

Further investment in Portr through issue of bonds, they certainly like Portr. DC

Ianrossbus: Should your correspondence with the registrars still be unfruitful, I suggest you write to one of the non-executive directors, even the Chairman. Explain your position, give him your present and former address and ask if he can verify your present shareholding. You will receive an answer. Armed with that response, then either go back to the registrars or come back here for guidance.

Sorry its a little off topic - and down to my own stupidity !! The current registrars aren't being too helpful and whilst I have tried to look through old news reports, its not a simple task. Can anyone explain the consolidations that have taken place. I understand it went from DGM to Vela then changed registrars and then changed to Vela. I put my deal certificates in the bottom drawer in December 2006, then moved house - So didn't get any updates to my new address. I have several DGM certificates and I am trying to work out what dilutions took place and when, so that I can verify what the new registrars are saying is correct ie I only have a few shares in Vela and they are now worth next to nothing !! Thanks in advance

Nice early buy this morning, I picked up 18k Rosslyn Data last week before the announcement having read up a load it does look as if it is about to come to fruition to me. Any thoughts of a further investment at this level Antony? DC

The point about achieving realisations is not lost on us. Your reference to RDT is fair with the benefit of hindsight. The world of data analytics has moved on at such a rapid pace over the last 3 years aided by the fact that more and more companies saw it as an area to exploit. This investment has been extremely disappointing although recent news appears to be somewhat better. You will may also recall that RDT has had some bad press relating to its admission to the market. Clearly this is out of our control. The way to look on Vela, though, is as a portfolio and on this I would make a few points 1. The RDT investment is insignificant to us now as a percentage of the overall portfolio. 2. All portfolios would have winners, losers and also rans. Not all investments we make are going to be successful. 3. The investments like "Portr or Blockchain" as well as others have the potential to "multibag" from here. Take a look at valuations achieved, for example, at Skyscanner, in the travel space, which was recently valued at $1.6bn. I am not saying Portr could be valued at that but it gives some sense of the upside compared to the £25m valuation attributed to Portr at the last funding round. Then take a look at the valuations accorded to BTL compared to other valuations in the Blockchain space around the world, many of whom have valuations of 5x plus that of BTL and have absolutely nothing in terms of revenues or product. I could go on. I would emphasise that I am in no way suggesting that at this stage some of our investments should be valued at what appear to be sky high valuations. I have to be very careful, as a Director of Vela, what I say so as not to mislead or imply anything that has not been said in RNSs to date. You have to do your own research. The thing is, why would we sell out of these investments at this stage based on the above? What would you be writing on this Board if we sold our shares in Portr because the valuation of the company has gone up 5 fold since we invested, only to see it valued significantly higher in the future? So that is why I referred in my previous post to investors needing to have a similar investment timeframe to that of the underlying investments we have made. I hope this addresses your point. Good to hear you are a shareholder and asking such questions is good as it provoking debate and interest in Vela. Believe me, as a significant shareholder myself, I have exactly the same desire as you. Antony Laiker (Executive Director)
