Whether it be in politics, in sport or in business, the magic ingredient seems to be momentum and, with any luck, VEC have got a big dose of it with the report yesterday. Hopefully, momentum will be maintained by excellent results next week and built on further by a positive decision by Novartis soon after. The icing on the cake would be good news about the litigation. Christmas may be coming early for VEC shareholders, I do hope so. I shall be watching the share price with even more interest today.

"Inhaler guidance pushes Vectura higher

Vectura and Hikma Pharmaceuticals moved in opposite directions on Thursday in response to new treatment guidance from the leading advisory body for lung disease.


The Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease — known as GOLD — overhauled its guidance to favour inhalers that do not use steroids. Long-acting combination inhalers are better for treating all but the mildest of cases of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, GOLD said.

The news was a setback for Hikma, down 4 per cent to £16.64, whose most important pipeline drug is a generic version of GlaxoSmithKline’s best-selling Advair steroid inhaler. Hikma reiterated at an investor day this week that it aimed to launch generic Advair by mid-2017.

But inhaler developer Vectura climbed 8.4 per cent to 145.7p.

GOLD’s revised advise means the Ultibro inhaler, made by Novartis under licence with Vectura, is now a preferred treatment for an estimated three-quarters of lung-disease patients, a $10bn addressable market, said Numis Securities. “We see Ultibro having blockbuster potential ($1bn+) as the first and arguably best in class inhaler with strongest data,” it said."

fhmktg- very positive presentation.
Momentarily share price reached 200 day SMA at 154p - seems a reasonable target to reach and hold and build on if results are better than forecast.
