whats the near likely hood of a short term bounce and to what degree?? (I understand it has been halved..) thought I may pick some up now that share price is more reasonable at sub 3.50..hence I think a 5-10% bounce could be challenged in the near course just my thoughts.. :-)))) reading above gosh some investors may have got mighty burnt if they did no research the other day..ouch..! may jump in tomorrow at current levels. DYOR as always.. stay lucky..

Glad you boys emerged today - I had forgotten this thread and all its nice graphs. there are some VERY odd priced trades early today - suspect people knew not what they did!

Succinctly put. Ex rights today so the drop is because if you sell the shares you retain the right to buy more at 165p. The A shares are now effectively half an ordinary share.

Yes it is. It is not too late to accept the rights issues. Which is presumably a no-brainer.

The United Utilities web site is down because to many people are trying to get on it and the server is over loaded. I guess everyone wants to know why the big drop.

This is a quite thread! Does anyone know the reason behind todays share price fall? I can't find any news yet. And I can't access the United Utilities web site

The last chart above, UU.A, ends in Jan - is this intended?

Citiwire reports plenty of sharp fund managers hold UU they just havent managed to push it up past resistance yet. Patience needed.

After considerable time it now looks like the A`s are finally getting their true re-rating as the companies longer term prospects are looked at following the review.

We now have a 'Golden Cross'. Should see a steady rise until June.

Always happy to put money away in this company. What was the cause of the fall on 2/12/03?

Manoj, best of luck, but I am not sure on your system. I work on risk/reward. I am sure these will rise until they go xd on the 17th Dec. Even if not, they are yielding 9%. Brown is intent to slow consumer borrowing which will slow consumer spending. UU. will still have a good revenue flow. May I ask where you are going to put the procceeds from your sale? Regards, bp

bpoole, thanks. despite your advise, I sold my few shares @ 291.15 to net a very small profit. My current strategy is to recover from my losses (MONI, RTK, EGS, PMD). Counting pennies is the norm for me at present. I still have a small shareholding in UU (not UU.A). It will take time to recover. I know UU is a quality company. And their non regulatory business will outperform the regulatory business. But I am for quick gains to breakeven. So it is the wrong stock for me. Cheers, Manoj
