02/10/2015 07:34 | We are off and running what great news---- Major Contract Win with Conviviality Retail Plc Universe (AIM: UNG.L), a leading developer and supplier of point of sale, payment and on-line loyalty systems is pleased to announce that its subsidiary HTEC, has signed a major contract with Conviviality Retail Plc ("Conviviality"), the UK's largest franchised off-licence and convenience store chain with the Bargain Booze fascia. Under this contract, revenues over the next three years are expected to amount to approximately £4.3 million. The contract, secured after an international competitive tender process, is for the supply and maintenance of a comprehensive, integrated suite of HTEC's proprietary next generation point of sale, back office, head office and payment systems together with related on-going customer support. The systems will be installed across Conviviality's entire estate of over 650 off-licence and convenience stores, with implementation expected to begin no later than November 2015. As well as facilitating and managing sales processing and secure in-store payments, HTEC's products will also manage online ordering and deliver an extensive reporting suite. Jeremy Lewis, CEO of Universe, commented: "We are delighted to be working with such a market leading retailer as Conviviality. This is a significant contract win for us that highlights the Group's progress in entering the convenience store and grocery sector and underlines the market confidence in our new, innovative product set." | dealit
29/9/2015 12:14 | I think it's very hard to break that out, as HTEC are responsible for the fuel payment systems at Morrisons as well as having an involvement (along with several other companies) in the loyalty card system, having previously been involved with the Miles More fuel loyalty card. We do know that during the period of the new MRW loyalty card revenue from the top 3 customers (Asda, Morrisons and Spar) has reduced from 71%, to 63% and then to 59% in 2014. They are certainly successfully expanding their customer base outside of these 3. I imagine it provided a decent chunk of revenue in 2014 when it was being developed and introduced but is probably less important going forward. | cockerhoop
29/9/2015 08:52 | Does anyone know roughly their % revenue from the Morrisons loyalty card? | wjccghcc
29/9/2015 07:46 | Good solid progress with what looks like further announcements of deals due this year. Spedi also seems to be integrating nicely. Due an uptick imo. spud | spud
28/9/2015 16:59 | I have two places for lunch and a presentation with UNG and then a meeting and presentation with PEN this Wednesday from noon if any of you are interested ? Just mail me at mellomeeting.co.uk | davidosh
15/9/2015 11:38 | I have been looking at KLBT recently. They seem to share some similar characteristics with UNG. Anyone looked at them before? | mrx9000

20/8/2015 09:35 | Has UNG got the contactless card payment angle covered? Seems to have really taken off. Even the oldies prefer it compared to PIN machines. | russman
19/8/2015 15:07 | Yes I can confirm that Faraday have recommended Universe today; I've just got hold of a copy which apart from highlighting the opportunity does not say anything that is not already in the public domain.I googled "Faraday" in order to establish the nature of the operation.Nothing to get too excited about I don't think. | thorne1
19/8/2015 13:48 | I understand Faraday is an Investment Planning company, with a yearly fee of 1% of the value of any portfolio with a minimum portfolio of £250,000. | loganair
19/8/2015 13:01 | I agree as a long term holder that a breakout now seems to be underway. But who are Faraday? | thorne1
19/8/2015 11:43 | Can anybody confirm the rumour that Faraday have tipped this today? | lanzarote666
19/8/2015 10:30 | I just wish Universe didn't just have to rely on one or two customers, they had a larger clientele base. 3 years now Universe has been making a profit at all levels and will really breakout when finally they return to paying a dividend, even if it absolutely tiny which I'm looking forward to one day and hope the one day isn't too far off into the future. | loganair
19/8/2015 10:21 | All looking good here with very good technology and management team in an expanding market as retail sector looks to make use of data via payments systems. This has been a very long term hold for me but really does look to be breaking out and hopefully will not see single digit penny status again. Downing will be very happy as they have been backing Universe heavily over the past few years just as I have too. | davidosh
12/8/2015 08:04 | 'We expect to announce our first customer deployments in due course'.Looks as if this is something that the industry badly needs and has been developed at their behest giving them first mover advantage.Patience being rewarded & getting better and better..spud | spud
12/8/2015 07:24 | Sounds good---Launch of new encryption solution Universe (AIM: UNG.L), a leading developer and supplier of point of sale, payment and on-line loyalty systems is pleased to announce that its subsidiary HTEC, has launched an innovative new card payment encryption solution, called "Perseus". The new proprietary solution adds an additional layer of security to card payment transactions at the point of sale and makes HTEC the first provider of point-to-point encryption ("P2PE") technology designed to be equally adept in both the petrol forecourt and traditional retail sectors. Perseus, which has been approved and listed by the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council ("PCI SSC"), complements HTEC's proven Gemini Payment Service. The Perseus P2PE solution also provides customers with improved fraud prevention and management to significantly reduce the complexities of their compliance with the PCI SSC's security standards. Jeremy Lewis, CEO of Universe Group, said: "We are delighted to launch this innovative, propriety encryption solution, Perseus. It marks a first in the petrol forecourt sector and enables us to offer any customers dealing with card payment transactions significantly enhanced data security as well as cost savings as they discharge their compliance obligations. We expect to be able to announce our first customer deployments in due course." | dealit
24/6/2015 19:41 | Looking good for a decent re-grade. | red army
24/6/2015 09:01 | Finncap reiterated their target of 12p yesterday...may take a while. | lanzarote666
23/6/2015 12:50 | I think UNG share price is going to act in a similar way to United Carpets whose share price rose 25% in a week after they announce the resumption of Dividend payments. I other words the resumption of dividend payments will be the catalyst for a major rise in the UNG share price. | loganair
23/6/2015 11:39 | A rather flat ("in line" and "second half weighted") agm statement which does not excite. Better than unsupported hype but may lead to some drift until further news arrives. But then, perhaps management are thinking ahead to topping up their holdings! Basically one for the patient, I feel. | boadicea |
