isn't this a share that you either hold long term for a divvy stream or you play / trade the high and low range?

True, everything is relative.

Depends what you bought with the money. Most of my shares graphs look pretty similar to uu over the last week or two.

If you sold 10k worth at 10 quid, and bought something else, then a couple of weeks later the pride of missing out on a 1k notonal 'loss' from uu may be tempered by a real 1.5k loss on whatever you bought.

I think it was a good sale at £10 & will be a good buy sub £9.

Perhaps I am too cautious but with dozens of unfortunate sheep washed down rivers and sewers possibly overflowing etc the water purification processes may be severely tested in some areas.

Water, water everywhere and its got to be fit to drink.

That's me.
As you say , the share price has risen significantly over the last few yrs , and doubtless will rise again .They are not going bust.

Well it was 840p a couple of months ago, so 940p isn't that bad. These things don't go up and up every day! Even if the earnings (whichever 'earnings' figure you prefer from the many!) did increase massively or even moderately, the divi couldn't be increased much more for political reasons imv. Just par for the course with regulated companies - certainly no one is going to get rich quickly, but also they aren't going to go bust either. For boring old farts only.

The reduced EPS of 24p per share is of more interest to me than the slight DPS rise. Doesn't look like the market is too impressed this morning as it trundles down to 945p.

The divi increase is about 2% giving a yield of almost 4%. Probably the best we can hope for - the regulator looks for a balance between shareholder returns and bills, so in a low inflation environment, that's the best we'll do. It should keep the regulator off their back. It's still a divi increase in real terms.

Not studied the figures but disappointed with the divi increase.

Perhaps after the water pollution problem it is better PR not to be giving high rewards to shareholders.

Perhaps I should study the figures rather than just being greedy.

Apologies if I caused confusion or offence. My comment (post 55) was intended for "and then" as Pierre Oreilly indicated and not to wad collector.

i took Bench as referring to 'and then'. ?

Chartism is actually quite a good way of making lots of money. You just write books on it. No experience or expertise on anything required, in fact, a total lack of even basic maths is the only primary requirement.

I am old enough to recognise pseudo-scientific analysis and my point about chartism is serious , but good luck to you if that term does not offend you.
I also predict that at some point the share price will go up and down and not necessarily in that order , and by an undefined amplitude , with an undefined periodicity. Perhaps you can be more specific.

and then ... you seem to talk a lot about waves. As you know, the analysis of 'waves' or data roughly following some moderated synchronous wave-like pattern is almost always viewed in the frequency domain via a Fourier transformation, because many aspects of the data then become visible. Would you agree that a Fourier analysis would be more scientific than what you have done above, which is really unscientific and mathematically vacuous waffle?

I've only just noticed this thread. UU has produced the best chart and trade set-up so far for me this year, unfortunately it was for the drop that finished a couple months ago, but for anyone interested, i will post as it shows the bottom was predicted to the very pip;

Here we have the daily chart showing a standard ABC retrace. Certain things we look for are clear wave structure, where 'C' will be in 5 waves. Within this, we expect fib relationships between waves and corrective waves 2&4 to show alternation;

Wave 3 was 138.2% of wave 1 and wave 5 was exactly 100% of wave 1
Waves 2&4 show clear alternation.

Now we zoom in on wave 5 (my charts only just go back far enough today to cover (blue circle). Wave 5 also breaks down into it's own 5w cycle. Here wave 'v' (of 5) hit's it's projected 61.8% level of waves 0-iii (this is standard). What i can't show you is that this subwave 'v' also broke down into it's 5w minuette cycle and again, the 5th projected target was also exactly at the same level. Multiple calls for this to be the end of the corrective cycle;

and then

I can't really complain as I consider myself to be in a very fortunate position. The brother in law is one of those types you mention above, has clients rather than works a fund but,,,. All the same he has just offered to pay the uni' fees for my four kids. Knocked me out of my stride a bit as you can well imagine. In conclusion,,, they're not all bad.
