Given the placing price, the current share price may be a steal but doesn't look like bottomed yet.

Market not convinced?

Will they come back for more money at a lower price to allow the last takers to average down?

Certainly there is a lack of buyers in the market sub 220p and I could see this going down to the float price as is.

Tech Market View - 25/3/14:

Ubisense senses deeper losses

Let me begin by saying I like Ubisense, the AIM-listed, 'real-time location intelligence' products and services company based in Cambridge, and I like CEO Richard Green whom I meet from time to time, mainly to see if he's on track to turn the numbers around (e.g. see Ubisense opens the kimono).

Alas not yet. Today's FY results for CY2013 show net losses trebling to £1.94m on revenues of £27.0m, 11% higher than in 2012 (8% organic). There's huge diversity in the performance of its geo markets: UK down 63% to just £539k, Asia Pac down 27% to £2m; Europe up 18% to £12.5m and best performer US up 25% to £12m. Their operations are not cash flow positive and they rely on borrowings to finance the business (£3.5m last year).

It's all down to strategy and execution. I think they have a differentiated proposition but they don't know how to capitalise on it. With the best will in the world, I think current management will have trouble turning this around. But nonetheless investors are broadly keeping faith. Ubisense's shares are steady at 247p, still a 37% premium to their June 2011 IPO price.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the come to market for money to fund growth or do a placing with institutions. All the rage?

This is quite an interesting British play on the coming robotics revolution.
I can't see too many other uk co's in the robotics dependent field.

That's what small innovative companies start out having to do. Once the business is proven and management have a track record you won't be paying this price. What risk/reward do you want?

CEO, I think it was, said they target being a billion pound co.

I like what I'm seeing in the news, what concerns me is whether the mng team have the ability to turn this in to profits. Looking at the longterm history (of this company, increasing revenue, increasing losses and loses expected to continue) its not that great and I don't see any new blood at the top to invigorate it. Most of them are ex smallworld (which I know nothing about), but they appear to have done very well out of it.

In addition with all this new business do they have the resources to cope. If they have to start hiring to support this lot, then they may find themselves stretched if they have got their sums wrong.

As Brummy_git said, can they convert this to cash!

look forward to talking to them at investor show in feb

That european extension should do it and add a newspaper tip or 2 for 2014 (with a bit of luck) and this could run towards the next pound level. What other gems might drop shortly?

Cashflow is going to be key. From memory, trade working capital is 20%+ of sales, which IMO looks much too heavy given Ubisense's positioning as a hi-tech software driven business

That said I guess the Board are pro-actively looking to solve this - and if they succeed then the stock should soar

extract from 3dec13

Rationale for the Acquisition

The Directors believe that there is strong strategic rationale for the Acquisition as it provides the Company with a direct presence in Asia, one of its key growing markets. This is particularly important given forthcoming changes to Japanese radio regulations which will allow the sale of Ubisense products in the Japanese market from 2014. Ubisense and Interworks have already worked together, with Interworks completing the Hyundai installation in Korea. The Acquisition will enable Ubisense to develop and strengthen its existing strategic relationships with original equipment manufacturers ("OEMs") such as Daifuku, and the recently announced Asian headquartered automotive logistics group as well as target new customers, in particular Japanese and Korean manufacturing companies.

Following an engagement and trials over the last 12 months, both companies have agreed to work together to deploy an integrated automotive logistics solution to new and existing customers, built on the Ubisense Real-time Intelligence Platform. The solution will be deployed on sites at large scale Asian ports and leading automotive OEMs

Good to see UK PLC going out to acquire rather than the other way round.
Good luck.
