08/7/2015 16:34 | APAD et al, I would be grateful if you would devote your contributions for the bettering of our understanding of Tristel Solutions The VLG bb and others are more appropriate for discussing investing prowess. TIA | piedro
08/7/2015 12:43 | Yes it is an interesting story jc. Well done on your trading, but by rights it should be straddling the world now. I doted on my Psion5. Potter's Scientific Instruments Or Nothing. This is a genuine acronym! The software was promoted by Nokia for a while, but it didn't form part of Android. apad | apad
08/7/2015 11:30 | Apad. Psion was not a failure as such. The shares moved up 150 times over a 9 year period. I sadly sold half when it had risen 10 fold to £5 and the other half at £10. The software for mobile phones was sold to Nokia. I understand that this formed part of the early android phone software. | jch18

07/7/2015 15:12 | petewy, Re: the Clorox deal RNS Number : 6864Y 30 December 2010 Termination of Agreement with The Clorox Company Tristel plc ("Tristel") announces that the Development and Licence agreement with The Clorox Company ("Clorox"), Oakland, United States, has been terminated. The agreement was entered into in September 2009 and licensed Tristel's technology to Clorox for use in the hospital surfaces disinfection market. Tristel had not assumed that any royalty income would be earned under the agreement until financial year 2015-16 at the earliest. The termination will have no financial impact on Tristel's current year or next year results. Commenting upon the termination, Paul Swinney, CEO Tristel, said: "Whilst we're disappointed with the termination of the agreement, during the period of co-operation we learnt a huge amount about the United States market and its regulatory processes. Clorox's commercial interest in our technology was only for environmental surfaces, which is only part of Tristel's involvement in the hospital marketplace, and we will now look at the wider opportunities in North America". ... basically Clorox took out a licence (exclusive I believe) to use the ClO2 chemistry; they sat on it, did nothing and then brought out their own product range and terminated the agreement - AIMHO - as PS says "... we learnt a huge amount about the United States market..." - nothing like being taken for a ride ..... once bitten twice shy. | piedro
07/7/2015 14:51 | "So, how do we make sense of complexity? The answer has to be to reject the chimaera of theory as it is generally understood and the malign influence of the terminology a theory of everything—it is not that there are no theoretical absolutes, it is just that there are no theoretical absolutes that are independent of context." apad | apad
07/7/2015 14:30 | Yes interesting. How much are the USA and China markets worth is something I can't find out. Only ref is in 2009 see below: Tristel (LSE: TSTL) broadened its international reach with two new agreements in the US, where it licensed its proprietary chlorine dioxide chemistry to bleach manufacturer Clorox, and in China, establishing a joint venture to tap into the US$835 million disinfectant market. Oakland-based S&P 500 consumer goods manufacturer and marketer Clorox markets its products in more than 100 countries, enjoying annual sales in excess of US$5 billion, the company said in the statement. Tristel simultaneously announced that its wholly-owned Stella Performance had established a subsidiary in Shanghai called Shanghai Stella Medical Equipment (SSM) to launch the Stella Endoscope Decontamination System into the Chinese market. SSM is currently in the process of obtaining regulatory approval for Tristel’s disinfectant products. | petewy
07/7/2015 13:40 | Thanks apad, I appreciate disagreeing views more. It would seem to me all tech companies are a bet on the expertise of the staff and management, Tristel just the same. | rcturner2
07/7/2015 13:27 | We must agree to differ about this, RC2. Only if we group like with like we can understand and compare. For example, your metric can compare RR, with ZYT and TSTL, but I don't believe it is illuminating. I am, however, interested in accounting metrics that shine a light within a context. Turning to ZYT. they are a technology bet that depends on their particular expertise. Psion was like that - hugely in advance of the market and a spectacular failure. I am about 20% up on ZYT, but am very twitchy because the share price depends on order news, not on valuation metrics. Hey Ho. apad | apad
07/7/2015 13:17 | Sure totally different companies in totally different industries. I don't think the fact that one company sells consumables means that it should be rated differently from a business with higher value items though. Both good and well run businesses with growth and a good balance sheet. | rcturner2
07/7/2015 13:11 | ....but ZYT depends on lumpy orders of high value, rather than consumables. So, an accounting metric is used to compare companies that are unlike. A bit like Greece and Germany having a common currency perhaps? apad | apad
07/7/2015 12:48 | A good example is Zytronic (ZYT) - its figures are much better than a first glance might suggest, since they have a large cash balance and so the EV is quite a bit lower than the stated market cap. | rcturner2
07/7/2015 12:47 | apad, there are lots of well known ratios out there, PE and PEG. Using an adjusted market cap instead is not uncommon, it is very similar to a standard PE ratio. The advantage is that it tends to flag up companies with net cash, as their cash tends not to be taken into account in plenty of analyses. | rcturner2
07/7/2015 12:27 | "I run a spreadsheet with EV/eps" You got a good link to why this is a good metric RCT? apad | apad
07/7/2015 09:58 | Thanks sj. This has been a good share for me, twice made great profits. I run a spreadsheet with EV/eps, and it is pushing up to a pretty high number at the moment. I appreciate there is good growth in the company, but very good numbers are needed to justify the current valuation. | rcturner2
07/7/2015 09:54 | Well done RCT - I expect a period of consolidation given the recent rise. This is a long term hold for me given growth prospects so I'm happy to hold through a few months consolidation until next TS or financial report. As you say not easy to trade in and out and spread is quite large. SJ | sailing john
07/7/2015 09:47 | Sold mine out today, had to break it up to get them through, good luck to all who remain. I'll be back again if it drops. | rcturner2
26/6/2015 12:05 | The fact that 160k shares being sold could be absorbed without any price weakness is a very bullish sign for the share price. | rcturner2
26/6/2015 11:10 | Nice move. Looking good. | elcapital
26/6/2015 11:09 | Yes and its already traded over 2x the average days volume...Seems the momemntum is strong and continues... Regards Source | source
26/6/2015 10:34 | Interesting, looks like a couple of large sells went through there, but have been absorbed and now it looks like supply has tightened and the price is up again. | rcturner2
25/6/2015 15:30 | Good luck, that's the MediChem gang. Here's a newer one ... | piedro
25/6/2015 15:00 | Hmm who are these guys? Will check them out to see if they are any threat to Tristels line up. Thanks for posting Piedro | source |
