There is more to it than meets the eye ...

Breaking the conventions of sector-led design
13 May 2016
Posted in Branding - SILK PEARCE
... It’s not always easy to convince the client to break away from familiar territory. So it’s important to convey how important ‘uniqueness’ is to a brand’s success. ...

... Manufacturer of infection and contamination control products Tristel is another science-based organisation that’s not afraid to stand out from the crowd. While other companies continue to use the industrial-looking labels synonymous with the industry, Tristel takes a different view. When research revealed most of the company’s products were used by female infection-control nurses, Silk Pearce designers created an attractive brand image closer to those associated with consumer toiletries. The products’ visual appeal has been integral in encouraging hospital staff to adopt the products. ....

I tend to have half in income investment trusts and half in small cap growth stocks. Recently the income side had really motored ahead and I have taken profits and trousered the cash for a revaluation. PEY is a good example of a trust that has done really well recently and I have sold out. Bond funds are moving to premiums rather than discounts and so have sold them too. I only hold 3 investment trusts now and 6 small cap shares. We have actually been in a very long bull market and the FTSE is at a record high, something has to give. I can hold cash for 3 months, 6 months etc. whatever it takes.

50% cash - any particular reason?

Personally, I don't like holding the stuff especially if it is in £'s.

I'm holding 9 stocks at the moment and Tristel is my best performer. I like to be diversified but currently have about half in cash so Tristel only makes up about 10% of the overall total. I wont be selling any.

Top sliced a few yesterday as TSTL reached 30% of my portfolio.

The situation could be repeated after next weeks results but
I do speculate as to why they feel the need to do two {now three}
presentations

Tristel is going to do very well before it enters the US market and growth really drives on. UK income will become minor compared to it's overseas income within next few years, helpful when Brexit worries eventually resurface.

"...The Tristel Wipes System is a unique, patented decontamination method for non-lumened scopes and probes. It has been a very significant sales success for the Company globally. Worldwide sales in the financial year ending June 2012 were £3.3m and are expected to be £8.7m in the year ending June 2016..."

Nice report. They need to post it all NHS hospitals directly and ask why they are not using the best and cheapest products throughout their sites (and not buying from a UK company either!)

-- think i also remember them having this sort of finding before too(?).

A PE of 20 is not expensive for a company that is growing this fast. The US entry is a bonus that is not priced into the share price, in my opinion.

I understand FDA could be a spanner but average 5 months for this type of application assuming no glitches. There shouldn't be glitches as they've been preparing for a long time but no guarantee of course. Update will be interesting, the PE will seem low if all goes well, downside risk seems quite a bit less than upside imo this point.

Final results due 17 October.

Interim results saw eps up 40%, so if that is carried into H2, then last years eps of 5.44p will become 7.62p.

At 160p we are on a forward PE of 21.

would lead to approval by end of June 2017. However note Their aspirational date is approval by end of June 2017 - but this largely in the gift of the FDA.

Thanks, that fills some gaps, it seems to me that assuming they submit by end 2016, and no problems (which shouldn't be as they opened communications at start of year), they could expect clearance by mid 2017. But they might be well ahead of that so it could be sooner. Very interesting.
