21/9/2014 10:53 | Get this bit for the article, Brown is definitely going for Emperor: Mr Brown also revealed he had spoken to Bill Clinton and Kofi Annan following Friday’s result in what was seen as a clear message that he wants a bigger role on the world stage, in addition to his UN role as girls’ education envoy. He said he was not returning to frontline politics but that he was “too young to be an elder statesman”. Speculation is growing among senior members of the Scottish Labour Party that Mr Brown could become the face of Labour’s general election campaign north of the border. | inside2 | |

10/9/2014 08:46 | A snippet from todays Times Writing in The Times today, the former Tory prime minister John Major lays the blame for the crisis at the door of the last Labour government, implicitly blaming Gordon Brown a day after he was brought to the heart of the campaign to save the Union. His comments are likely to reopen divisions as David Cameron, Ed Miliband and Nick Clegg try to present a united front in Scotland amid rising panic in Westminster. Labour, along with the Scottish Nationalists, “have fed a divisive narrative that has bitten deep, ignoring the revolution in Scottish living standards brought about, in large part, by Conservative policies,” Sir John writes. “It would be ironic indeed if Scotland voted for separation, and Labour lost all its significant representation in the House of Commons. If this comes to pass, no one should weep for them.” He urges the parties not to underestimate the consequences of separation. | inside2 |
