Glanbia paid $300m, Flavor Producers adjusted EBITDA $19.7m for 12 months to 2/24, in comparison TET current valuation £285m adjusted EBITDA £25.9m FY24 estimate. So Glanbia paid roughly 36% over TET valuation.

I much prefer the way that the CEI succession issue has been handled at another nearby AIM company - Tristel. There, the outgoing CEO is staying on until his successor is in post and planned revised targets for the company have been deferred until after tha new CEO has had the opportunity to participate in the process. I think that the acting CEO has done a decent job, but about the only good things I can say about the TET process is that it was completed quickly and the new CEO has a decent CV.

cfro, thanks for the view - I would just add that for many years TET sold around 13-14X (from memory) - ZIRP altered this.

It's now a larger business and arguably also higher quality tbf.

cfro - for that reason we can either deduce that Symrise et al are massively overpriced….or that TET are massively underpriced! Happy Xmas

loofyloofy,

I was just curious to look back through some your previous posts on Treatt and quickly came across your post from way back in March 9th 2016 (please forgive me for being nosey!).
In it you made a direct comparison to Symrise. A transcript of your post below:

Symrise´s results came out yesterday - herewith some comprisons:

EPS 1.90 euros per share 11.94 pence
Dividend 80 cents per share 4.04 pence
EBITDA Margin 22% 11.77%
Net margin 9.49% 9.3%
Share price 55.90 euros 175 pence
Price/earnings ratio 29.42 14.66
Dividend yield 1.4% 2.3%
Dividend cover 2.37 2.95

Interesting......I am not so sure the Symrise results were that good..on every other metric, apart from EBITDA, they are lower than Treatt. Net margins almost identical.

It just struck me. I have not looked at Symrise and currently don't have the time right now (it's Christmas!) to see where the comparison might stand today, but reading your post above it sounds like you do at least keep an eye on Treatt's higher rated competitors.

Berenberg: tasty growth opportunities at Treatt
Food flavourings manufacturer Treatt (TET) is well positioned for the next phase of group, says Berenberg.

Analyst Matthew Abraham retained his ‘buy’ recommendation but lowered the target price from 730p to 700p on the stock, which was trading at 451p on Friday.

Full-year results from the group ‘reflected a transition year for the company, which we think has laid a platform from which the business can focus its efforts on pursuing underexploited opportunities in ready-to-drink coffee and in China more broadly’, Abraham said.

In his view, the company is ‘well placed to achieve success in both opportunities, given its existing partnerships in the two spaces and the investment that it has made in its people and capabilities to capture new business’.

‘We expect both of these opportunities to deliver volume growth for Treatt that will drive an operating leverage benefit,’ he said.

Happy with the results and 2% increase in the dividend.

The stand-out is Coffee going from £1m to £5m in sales and now it's own reporting segment. It seems like cold brew coffee is becoming popular. You see it everywhere now and even in acholic beverages too. A number of companies are advertising it strongly with the likes of Starbucks really pushing it.

Let us hope it really takes off and is not just a fashionable fad.

The new CFO seems really switched-on. Just some uncertainty surrounding what happens next regarding new CEO.
