Good article by Patrick Hannon of Toumaz

Still trying to get my mind around the potential involvement with Amazon, I was very pleased to see us among the only 2 'suppliers' for chromecast-down from the original touted 4 then 3 , shows how difficult this technology is and I guess explains the huge wait and delays that have occurred. Google is great BUT if they get Amazon on board then I would be a serious buyer again.

The wording of the next earnings statement is going to be pivotal , to my mind more important than the results.

A very subtle response Drewster! Looking good IMHO re Google and Amazon links etc, in addition to DAB.

thinking about it, you could always ask to see the Echo "working model" ... probably there to showcase other companies technology of course.

Dave, your contacts are (at least) as good as mine. Make some calls, schedule direct meetings (AS and or JA) even, and your questions will be answered - I don't feel it is my place to state how and who, but they lurk these boards and may volunteer the info themselves.

They know any share consolidation should only be done once they have profits so that there is a P/E ratio to value the shares. I'm not concerned assuming that is the case.

I really fear a consolidation could wipe about 30% off market cap. Always has done in my sorry experience. So I hope it happens well after I'm gone :)

From the ERT interview - Says Mr Sethill: “It will be fascinating to see how Sonos adapts to Google Cast.”

He didn't have long to wait...

Can you illuminate us on your optimism about TMZ involvement with the Amazon speaker, you say that you and ' others' believe that our IP is integrated.

In essence I am after the provenance of your source.

I guess whoever it is , is a safe pair of hands ;-) ( sorry, couldn't resist the pun)

I'd like to see a step change in PR capability here. If we're tied in with Google, and/or Amazon, then there's a lot of positive noise that ought to be being made. Companies of that stature wouldn't normally be seen choosing partners with £30m Mkt Caps for the fundamental building blocks to enable their vision(s), and those that they do, can find their market cap rise quite significantly from such frustratingly low starting points.

Potentially (at least) exciting times.

Thanks for the dollar info, Sweenoid. I had been wondering myself whether sterling's depreciation would have the same beneficial impact on TMZ as it will have on IMG and it sounds like it might, if perhaps to a lesser extent.

In that light I think the CEO's comment in that recent article are a bit puzzling, as he was very downbeat on Brexit. At the time it made me wonder if the group was going to be badly impacted by the pound's slide, but I guess he was just voicing his personal view on the wider implications of exiting the EU, e.g. it may make trading with Europe more difficult if we leave the single market, or perhaps he is just a fan of the EU concept.

Anyway, that is it from me for the time being. I will post again when we get the half-year presentation, which should be on the 29th of Sept if the last two years are anything to go by. Right, back to watching Wheeler Dealers!

The old TMZ thread was titled "Liftoff in 2009"Perhaps the new beginning requires a new thread titled "Liftoff in 2017"Eight years on. Deja vu.

As you can see from above Romania has super high internet speeds.....US only 17th rating in the wld. ...compared to Romania which is fastest in Europe and sixth I think internationally.
It is a real tech hub now and as you say with some things being dollar denominated
there are at last positives on the periphery not just the complete change of emphasis.

That is very interesting sweenoid I hadn't registered the Romania bit but I was aware of the above link which is interesting in its own right but also shows perhaps that TMZ is in the right place at the right time?

Next few weeks could be very interesting. A few more people interested and could see a good move up. I see the 4p mark as the number to break through.

I have been having a rethink on Toumaz ;-) , perhaps total despondency is not necessary especially after the Sensium issue is sorted

Question -I think I have read it somewhere but can't find it, how much of the earnings is $ denominated, obviously the bigger the figure the better, can anyone shad any light/ info, as the answer fundamentally affects my outlook and investing decisions

S
EDIT - just found the answer in the annual report which is very favourable to my mind

Currency risks
The Group is exposed to foreign exchange risk. Most of its products are priced in US$ and, whilst the majority of its third party cost base is also denominated in US$, a large element of its labour cost is borne in sterling and with the setting up of the research centre in Timisoara, Romania an element is borne in Romanian LEU. Management aims to keep a reasonable balance of cash in both US$ and GBP to cover the cost base. The Group does not hedge its foreign exchange risk. At the time when the Directors consider that exposure to foreign exchange trading risks becomes significant they will seek to adopt appropriate hedging strategies and products.

So royalties are $ priced , that's good , third party costs are in $ so that partly offsets it and of course they have Head office and salaries in £ , the main thing I was after is how they are paid , so since the beginning of this 1/2 of FY profits will be about 15% on sales just in $/£ terms , great

Changing the Toumaz name is pointless. You need something that will stick regardless of which markets the business operates. Frontier Silicon is ok if we are selling modules and chips, but useless if we go into providing home automation solutions using existing IP.

I think we are on the cusp of a share price rise as I stated several weeks ago the share price was showing signs of a rise and wanting to go higher.
I reckon this could go to 13p + over the next couple of years

"I think the company should revert back to the 'frontier silicon' name or pick a new one".

We can agree on that, Sweenoid. TMZ is no longer relevant and Frontier is the brand they have built up in audio for the past 15 years. I assume the costs of a name change would be fairly low, as from past experience the existing certificates remain valid, so no re-print should be required.

However, I have no idea about the costs of a re-registration and if it is hundreds, rather than tens, of thousands of pounds, they may wait until they become profitable. Alternatively, perhaps a name change would require them to register in the UK rather than the Cayman's, which may have cost implications?

Either way, a UK registration and name change to Frontier would be appropriate over the next 12 months (as would a bumper profit and a big rise in the SP!).

Enjoy the bank holiday one and all.

I think they will go back to frontier silicon or some other name. I also expect a share consolidation at the same time.
The ideal time would be to vote it through at next year's AGM.

There have been many false dawns with TMZ but the sun does seem to be coming out.
The next 6 weeks should tell us a lot about the future of TMZ.

Toumaz is too linked with the ex founder/chairman/ executive director and the failed healthcare division

Frontier Silicon is a good name-why change that, it wouldn't cost that much and would be a statement of intent

Just a thought;-)

Good find Chill. It is encouraging to hear AS predicting a doubling of revenues over the next couple of years which, combined with the disposal of the loss making health division, should make the firm very profitable.

Things are hotting up in the connected world and I can see why TMZ were keen to cut Sensium loose, not just because of the cash-burn but the distraction it must have become from the increasingly core business of audio. Hopefully we will see the Government announce a DAB switchover during the next 12 months to add to all the promising news. Perhaps 10p is not so deluded a target after all.
