Sikh - those stories about NHS staff shortages will also affect Totally. Urgent care centres need good staff - both Doctors and Nurses - and, unless Totally can pay more than the current NHS staff rate (including very nice state pensions and benefits) or locum rate, then they are going to have problems recruiting staff. Many of Vocare’s problems relate to the quality of their service, which in the medical world relates to the quality of their staff. The recruitment and retention costs for Totelly are therefore likely to be very high. I think this will be their biggest obstacle to turning the company around. Even if they can go some way to remedying the problems, it’s likely to be at least 5 years before they can see a profit.

It's the usual dilemma, is this a great buying opportunity or does someone know something detrimental that is not in the public domain ?? The recent purchase gives the company a big boost in size and revenue but I guess the question is can Totally turn round the quality issues and improve profitability. I have great respect for Bob Holt who has had great success with other companies he has been involved with. I find it difficult to believe he has been involved in buying a lame duck but I guess time will tell. I already hold some shares but think I will hold off purchasing further until the future becomes clearer.

seems like there are very few holders of this stock....for a company with £70 million in revenue and a market cap of £25 million, something does not square up.....everyone knows the story, but clearly no one is interested.....looks to me like Vocare trousered £11 million and ran...

Urgent Care Centres & Walk in Centres would help take pressure of A&E...

Jeremy Hunt considers barring walk-in patients from A&E

"Speaking to an audience at an Urgent Health UK event in Birmingham on Thursday Thomas said that only 20% of walk-in patients called 111 before attending A&E. Of the 80% who did not, she said: “Some of them will need ED, but there’s an awful lot that won’t.”

Quarter of walk-in patients at Yorkshire A&E units demand treatment for minor ailments

"Experts say many could be treated at GP surgeries, urgent care centres or even stay at home rather than seek help for non-urgent complaints - putting further demands on already hard-pressed casualty staff.

NHS future precarious, says regulator

Take more pressure off the NHS and hospital A&E depts - perhaps opening more UCC would help???? Health Coaching???

"The Care Quality Commission (CQC) says the health system is "straining at the seams" and faces a "precarious" future."

"In its report, the CQC highlighted:
Staffing shortages with vacancy rates in the NHS rising by 16% over the last two years despite an increase in staff of 4%
Bed shortages in hospitals with occupancy levels being consistently above recommended levels since April 2012
Falling numbers of nursing homes beds - down by 4,000 in two years at a time when more are needed
Rising numbers of people not getting support for their social care needs with the numbers hitting 1.2m, up 18% in a year
Number of detentions under the Mental Health Act up by a fifth in two years to more than 63,000 last year"

Private care provider at Paddington’s St Mary’s Hospital rated ‘inadequate

The CQC told Vocare it must ensure treatment is provided in a safe way, achieve good governance and support its staff. It went on to recommend the company review privacy and how hard-of-hearing patients access the service.

Dr Michael Harrison, clinical director of Vocare, said: “We are taking the report very seriously. The assessment visit took place in July so we have had over 10 weeks to put in place a clear plan of action designed to address the CQC’s concerns. In most cases, new systems, processes and procedures have already been introduced with the final measures imminent.”

He said staff training had improved, a new role of director of quality and nursing introduced and measures taken to improve governance.

“We area confident we have addressed all concerns raised and patient safety has not been compromised. We will continue to work with our local commissioners to ensure high levels of continuous improvement”
