A dangerous game telling people to ignore BB dates, imo. People not knowing the important difference between BB dates and UB dates will end up poisoning themselves. Only a casual observer here, but think in theory timestrips could be useful on highly perishable foods, but in reality margins are too low (not that I know the cost of timestrips) to be practical.

Quite right Tea Boy.

Timestrips in the food industry are precisely what is NOT needed. They encourage waste and environmental damage.

The only reason food manufacturers would have used timestrips would be to try and 'bully' or scare the public into chucking away perfectly good food and buying more.

best-before dates and timestrips on food are totally discredited in today's 'environmentally aware' climate.

I believe Hilary Benn meant people should ignore the sell-by date and decide for themselves whether food is edible or not. Asking the public to think for themselves? a radical new approach but still, no good for Time holders, spoil-sport.
Anyhoo, given past performance in retail I think were better off chasing NHS/pharma for that all important quick buck.

The food angle on this has, understandably, been pushed off the agenda recently however here's an interesting snippet from Environment Secretary Hilary Benn on tonights news:-

"Environment Secretary Hilary Benn said while Britain was more self-sufficient now than it was in the 1930s and 1950s, everyone had to start thinking ahead about how to produce more using less water and less fertiliser.

He said last year's sudden jump in the price of food and oil, which most fertilisers are based on, was a "wake-up call".

"We saw last year when the oil price went up and there was a drought in Australia, which had an impact on the price of bread here in the UK, just how interdependent all these things are," he said.

"We have to feed another two and a half to three billion mouths over the next 40 to 50 years, so I want British agriculture to produce as much food as possible."

He also encouraged British consumers to buy more UK-grown produce and called for a re-think on best before or sell by dates to reduce waste."

I draw from that that he thinks the general publics awareness needs to be raised, and what better way to raise awareness on best before / sell by dates than a little plastic strip that tells you?

Just think if it was a legal requirement?!...........

Heres the whole piece:-

boldtrader,

"Vygon also intends to include TimestripIV as a component in a new cannulation pack that will be available in the coming months".

I assume that Timestrips will be available already to the NHS via Vygon and Brenmoor and in a couple of months the Cannula/Timestrip combo.

Good link and interesting read andbrea, many thanks. This timestrip/cannula looks impressive in the fact that it does exactly what it says it does and I would guess at affordable prices. Reported 40/05mil cannula use potential per annum could mean big business.
The Vygon/TIME distribution of this product is set to roll out to the NHS end July(as now) according to the last RNS so we should be hearing some news on the take up quite soon one would hope. Good luck to all holders. Cheers.

Also:

July 10

CANNULA TIME TRACKER: Cannulas break the skin and need to be checked regularly for signs of infection. Because staff may not know when the intravenous line was fitted, current timekeeping methods can be inaccurate. The new, simple timing device fits onto the cannula and uses Timestrip technology, changing colour to indicate how long the line has been in use and how soon it will need to be changed or checked

Agreed, although it would have to be pretty bad news to push the bid price sub 1p, and I would suggest that anyone who tried that tactic wouldn't be too encouraged to re-buy on the back of suggested bad news. Point taken though.

If I was to sell now, it would be because I was desperate for the cash, or just totally fed up with progress (after holding for several years). The latter might apply to a few, but I don't think there are many who are in this stock on the basis of a short term gain. For me it's the potential of longer term sucess (and the patience of a saint!) that keeps me in, I suspect that applies to most?

59david,

I think that the "going concern" issue won't be relevant until the next set of prelims need signing off next year.

Paul Augustus,

The downtrend looks to be continuing so selling now and reinvesting lower down would work if no news (or bad news) arrives. Trying that tactic when the bid is at 1.15p isn't holding out much optimism for the company though.

As 59d said, the bid price hasn't moved, so my guess is the MM's taking advantage of a couple of sales hoping there might be a few more? Though why anyone would sell at that price (unless they bought @0.5p) is beyond me.
