Something I picked up on last week was that Strand partners changed their name to Strandhanson.

Every company that they represent issued an RNS stating the name change. They didn't do so for Timan however which I found slightly unsettling.

Hopefully the company will issue an update this week in response to the above article. At least we'll be able to see if any progress has been made on the talks with Kamanisk.

"Battle to save Alexander Lebedev's Timan Oil & Gas

INVESTORS in an oil company controlled by Alexander Lebedev, the Russian oligarch who owns London's Evening Standard newspaper, will this week call for an emergency meeting in a last-ditch effort to stave off liquidation.

Lebedev's National Reserve Bank seized shares in Timan Oil & Gas this summer after boss Alexander Kapalin defaulted on a loan backed by his stake in the London-listed oil group. Just as NRB seized the shares, Timan's licences to its oilfields in Russia were transferred to a company controlled by a Kazakh businessman Timur Kuanyshev.

NRB, through an investment vehicle, fired management in August but has not appointed a new chief executive. The non-executive directors it installed appear to lack oil experience and have not commissioned audits for the group's 2008 or interim figures. These must be completed by December 11 or the shares, frozen for more than four months, will be permanently delisted.

Investors including Artemis Investment Management, Standard Bank and Henderson Global Investors stand to lose millions. A group holding about 17% of the stock will call this week for a meeting to be held in November. They intend to draw attention to what they describe as the questionable nature of the company's deterioration. Shareholders will send a dossier to the Serious Fraud Office shortly. They hope this will pressure managers into hammering out a fair settlement. Lebedev made no comment."

If Kamanisk are being awkward I am afraid Redbell may have to take them to court. This may be long and slow, but in the end I cannot see how Kamanisk can win. In parallel an action should be brought against Kapalin, again I cannot see how he can win either. In the meantime they need to do something to ensure that the licences are not rescinded, however this is a political matter and with Lebedev's contacts in high places this should be possible. But it does depend on whether he is in or out of favour. I am afraid this is going to be a long haul.

anyone care to answer these questions? :

have kamanisk and redbell/lebedev met face to face and agreed a deal on asset return?

do redbell/lebedev intend to develop the business or not?

do people believe redbell/lebedev are doing a back-door deal with kamanisk and a third party like lukoil or rosneft? - if this is the case then we need to call an EGM, press and politicians

have the assets already been returned?

does anyone know anything at all?

:(

People on this board are changing their stories like the wind. It's amazing how so many people can get drawn in to optimistic/pessimistic scenarios so quickly and without any factual platform.

Stop listening to those who hear second or third hand information! It's ridiculous! Some people are seriously going to damage their health if everything stated here is believed!

The only news that we can go by is that which the company releases.

It's horrible, but it's a waiting game; simple as that.

I'm giving it a 70% chance of an rns by the end of next week. By that I mean an rns with some sort of substance, not like the previous one.

I strongly feel that an EGM would be a good clear the air environment to move on with the next stage of the story, whether that be our delisting or relisting under a new set up.

As it stands because of institutional interest the 10% threshold should be reached without the possible headache to rally all the minority shareholders.
