Hopefully this is the beginning of the upward climb.

Just topped up with a few more before the sector becomes popular and the herds arrive. The rumblings of a sector recovery are beginning to be reported.

According to the trades on advfn, the bid/offer was 32/33 before the statement and moved to 32/37 afterwards, hence 3 buys @33 and 1 @37.
It's all irrelevant really as I'm expecting at least 100p by jan/feb next year.
Good luck all.

The spread has always been there!

Good positive statement, PHI sales picking up and H2 should be improved, prepared for xmas. Existing customers returning and new customers coming on board. Wholesale outlook is reassuring. Does acknowledge the tradings is still done 20%. Also finance in place.

Looking forward to January 2010.

Encouraging enough for the spread to widen :-(

Hermes buying Asprey's Bond street store is perhaps of sector interest.

anyone got any thoughts/views on the stats for Christmas shopping, given that the pound>euro is showing good value for those buying in € this should be an opportunity for a bit of a boost not only with TFL but with the whole sector. Some articles reflecting this in the papers this morning about our gov is artificially keeping the £ low so as to boost our exports. I'm sure that it would have other ramifications but in this instance it can only be good. There will be a host of expectations for the Q1 interims reports for most retail companies.

hmmm.. It's not exactly evidence of a turn around already having happened. However they are doing the right thing in reversing out of certain decisions. New tack taken makes sense. But my guess is a long wait before previous share price range is re-attained.

Markets not liking the results. Damn.

Will read it all later and digest.

shame about the recent downtrend.

Lets hope the Final results can reverse this downtrend and put it back on the up.

Final results are due by 30 September 2009, hopefully they'll take that opportunity to inform us of what Babs and Theo have been up to since returning to the company.

I doubt it .. If there were the MM's might well have cranked the price up by now in order to generate a few sales ...

Guess the uncertainty re: sales etc., is now starting to weigh .. We've had the little upsurge post return of BS/TF.

Only my opinion .... And if my portfolio's anything to go by, it's probably not worth much anymore!

suprised the spread has not returned to 'normal' yet. Is there a big trade being worked in the background?
vlain

me thinks the MM's are stocking up in order to put them in a better position to manipulate and control the price when the next announcement is made. Regular news flow is what the new management is about like the old days.

tow,
Because the size of the trades are very unusual(large) and from experience, I don't think it's likely that you could buy or sell sizeable chunks within the spread.
