If you thought you own the company you are very much mistaken....you only own the paper & you are given a number!!!...insiders are the true owners as they have info at their finger tips....they control the day to day workings of the company..

Directors are employees, shareholders are the owners, employees are not required to buy shares in the company they work for.

analyst comments on Tesco it tells you all that the directors have no faith in their company they are not buying their shares via their cash .

When a company of such size goes through hard times & a new CEO gets appointed how easy is it to do costing cutting here & there & everywhere?....the figures will show improvements & the markets get excited!!.... & the CEO gets all the credit/free shares call it what you like...this is one merry go round that repeats just like a washing machine cycle...who are these guys that approve insiders perks/contracts?..

Oh and what is the latest on that accounting debacle?...anybody held accountable for incompetence...

porty oh porty, you bemoan the share price and the crooked Directors, yet avoid the blindingly obvious, it was your choice to invest in the Co.
You're the same moaning minny on all Bds where you contribute your wisdom.

The quality of information imparted by some posters on here is abysmal and misleading.

Just for the record, the Director resigning is NOT Dave Lewis (he was Richard Cousins) and he was NOT an Executive Director (just a Non Exec who had only been on the board for a couple of years and has the CEO position in another major PLC - Compass Group - which may well have been the reason for him resigning especially as a few months before he became a member of the Tesco board he had resigned as a Non Exec on another board for that very reason).

The suspicion that private investors are being kept out of the loop etc etc, especially given the fantasies dreamt up by some on here is laughable, as well as probably sad in terms of their abilities as investors.

More for the filter...........

Alibx, total agree on all of your points. Long term, I don't doubt Tesco will be the winner of all the big four.

Thanks for clearing that up a bit but you have to understand that private investors always have to trade on hope, don't matter how good a company is if institutions and MM's choose to run it down to fill an order that makes them money then no private buyer can make a difference, we're along for the ride.

All you can do is hope you've got on board as the shares head in the right direction for you.

News nearly always leaks out ahead of time, a nod here a wink there, we'll never be in the club, laws of nature I'm afraid.

Cost cutting is not a bad thing, it's thinking and planning ahead as far as I'm concerned.

8 months of conseq. growth, increased market share, I'm holding for a while yet, nothing in the update or the recent trading has me in anyway concerned.

Think of my comments more referring to the trading update as oppose to the long term direction of Tesco. That's where I was to be in and out, even if it'd "gone to the moon" on the update I wouldn't if held long after. It was just a few noteworthy points along the way in terms from upcoming trading updates.

alibx11...just wondering if you have misunderstood post 18614...the Director leaving is not DL but one of the other Executive Director...just the timing of Director departure news ahead of trading update tend to bring doubters...
