Hi. Just took a small investment here on Friday benefitting from the small pull back. Been watching for a while while freeing up some funds and did research a while back but can anyone remind me the big story here. It's an ICO crypto of a coin in January ?Diamond trading? Has anyone a link to the story or RNS that they could re-post here that would benefit anyone still on the sidelines & future investors. Thanks.

Tom the white paper mentions the diamond will be sent to the custodians. Who's that?So imagine I want to invest and I buy Cedex coins. They represent a diamond or part of a diamond. So let's say part of a diamond. I'm now in a virtual diamond Etf, or as in my current diamond investment, a fractionalised diamond.But I own coins.... So where is the diamond stored? In my current investment its stored in a large swiss depository with insurance.Sure you'll know as your answers on here are precise.Thanks

Here's What The Director Of The IMF Thinks About Cryptocurrency

The role that cryptocurrency is going to play in monetary systems in the future remains unclear right now and just a few years ago the vast majority of people would have argued that there's no chance of currencies like bitcoin taking over fiat and – in particular – cash payments any time soon.

Fast forward to the end of September 2017, however, and this looks like it's changing. On September 29, Christine Lagarde, Managing Director (MD) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), just validated cryptocurrency as a concept and all but confirmed its chances of becoming an organic successor to cash based payment systems.

Having been introduced by Mark Carney, Governor of the Bank of England, Lagarde took the stage at a conference in London and, in her own, words, took the audience through a 'journey in time' and discussed the importance of crypto based technologies in future systems.

Here’s what she had to say on the potential for virtual currencies overcoming the current issues associated with clearing houses and central banks:

"Virtual currencies are in a different category, because they provide their own unit of account and payment systems. These systems allow for peer-to-peer transactions without central clearinghouses, without central banks."

She also suggested that the technology that underpins these systems would need to advance if a cryptocurrency was to overtake fiat as a standard means of exchange, purely because the current technology isn’t scalable to the degree necessary on a global scale. There is a degree of truth in that, of course, but it far from invalidates existing leading coins like bitcoin – the technology can and is adapting to address issues of scale as we speak.

It's only a small step in the right direction, sure, the importance of this sort of thing cannot be overstated. That policy makers such as Lagarde are having this particular conversation says a lot about just how far bitcoin and cryptocurrency has come to-date.

Coinbase CEO Backs Crypto Derivatives Exchange DydX

DYdX, an in-development decentralized exchange for cryptocurrency derivatives, has raised an undisclosed amount in a seed funding round.

In a Medium post, the startup said that the funding is a notable step in its vision to create the "first ever" decentralized derivatives exchange.

Led by Chris Dixon at Andreessen Horowitz (A16z) and Olaf Carlson-Wee at Polychain Capital, the round also saw participation from notable investors including Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, Abstract Ventures and U.S. entrepreneur Scott Belsky.

Key thing atm is the drop was on low volume so not concerned. A clear buy opp.

My overall strategy is to buy the dips and top slice when it is a few multiples from here.

Bitcoin had a similar 'acid test' in September when it hit $5,000, big drop back and then went up to $20,000. Similar one around this time last year too.

Agree jp, better to buy and hold for those reasons, spread and freefloat mean it can easily run off without you.

Imagine those selling have failed to do their research properly to understand both the dividend and what lies ahead in the new year. Fully expect those selling now to be buying back in at higher prices soon.

You have to trade it. I keep telling you. Sell when strong and spiked.

This drop is because all the crypto's have collapsed overnight. Hit the oranage bitcoin tab and scroll down and look at them all 90% of them have dropped 20-30% in the last 24 hours.

Now the acid test is will they bounce or is the fun over ?
