30/11/2016 12:53 | Multi, Reading back on some old posts, where did you read the info about 1 months ebitda could trigger the deal i read 12 month tailing ebitda? | dave224
30/11/2016 07:54 | "As for Grabsters remarks why so few see this opportunity I think the company is simply not on the radar anywhere " Yes, this is a special situation that many PIs and even major investors will ignore. One of my earlier holdings, Pilkingtons Tiles, sold the business and was left as a shell with town centre development land to sell worth an estimated £15M+. Despite the forecast gain the market cap remained more or less the same at £7M. They kept just one per one person managing it up to sale. Only at the end did the share price rise to the correct level. They eventually sold at or above the estimate. There was of course a risk even at £7M market cap, but the balance was heavily skewed to the reward side. Anyone who had followed the company would have seen there was no need to puff the estimated sale value, quite the opposite. So the market can indeed miss good opportunities. It is far from perfect, thank goodness. | puffintickler
29/11/2016 16:59 | Anyone know where in the circular its says what happens after 5 years, sure i read it just stays a 49%/51% holding each but can't seem to find it? | dave224
17/11/2016 20:41 | Multi, I see your share holding has been updated on the Tanfield website already and it looks like the directors didn't sell out their conversion of debt to shares as per others thoughts. | dave224
17/11/2016 16:36 | I agree that we have no certainty that the trigger point will be met. That could turn out to be a blessing in disguise as we would then own 49% of a company that could fetch an even higher price than agreed upon in the option agreement. I would be surprised if Ahern would not want to own all of the company whether the trigger point is met or not, and that is my reason to stay around. I find it hard to see how we would not receive at least the very conservative value we carry it to in the books. As for Grabsters remarks why so few see this opportunity I think the company is simply not on the radar anywhere as it is not followed by any analysts. And most people familiar with the company have had enough over the years and will never buy in again. That is why it apparently is so easy to accumulate rather nice positions at levels far below true value imo. | multiplural
17/11/2016 15:14 | > grabster Because as multiplural himself concedes the situation is as clear as mud. We don´t have any accounts for Snorkel and have no idea whether the conditions for a trigger of the purchase or sale of Tanfield´s holding in Snorkel will ever be met. The trigger to buy/sell shares in Snorkel is EBITDA of at least US $25 million for any prior 12 month period within 5 years of completion of the Tanfield/Ahern deal. Who is to say whether or not this will ever be the case? | orange1
17/11/2016 14:32 | I don't think this being held down just think there are so many bargains out there, its a case or which one do you choose and which one will blow 1st and I thought this would have blown a while ago with a offer from Ahern! Also been in this share such a long time am a bit sentimental. | dave224
17/11/2016 14:11 | So how come - if the prospect is so obvious - it's obvious only to the 2 or 3 enthusiasts on this discussion board, and not to all the other investors in stockmarketland who can usually be trusted to pile into golden opportunities? (I guess someone is sure to claim i'ts being manipulated by evil marketmakers, keeping the price down for their mates, or one of those other feeble conspiracy arguments that get wheeled out whenever a price fails to soar) | grabster
17/11/2016 07:40 | I agree, things are only going to get better not worse imo | dave224
16/11/2016 22:37 | Dave, I am as confident as ever. We are not getting below book value for Snorkel, or some 28p. Even at that price it will be a steal for Mr. Ahern. If the infrastructure buildup accelerates when Trump takes over , Snorkel will go ballistic and we will regret if we sell out too soon imo. | multiplural

10/11/2016 22:09 | Surely something is building up here. Everytime there is a buy on an uptick, the market makers are selling lower. Someone instructed them to keep a lid on, and they are quite good at it. | multiplural
09/11/2016 21:45 | Dave, I totally agree. The talk about the infrastructure investments might be the catalyst that could move a buy from Ahern forward. If anything it will for sure better the financials for Snorkel to a point where the option kicks in. That would be an even better scenario with the +45p level instead of a premature bid that would probably be accepted in the 30p level. | multiplural
09/11/2016 16:53 | What a result, a Trump win is great for Snorkel the investment in infrastructure will see more AWP's needed! | dave224
