Plain and simple. Two words... TONY BLAIR. Am I alone in thinking that the reason for the retrace is all the talk of Tony becoming President of the EU. Will he carry on the socialist / multiculturalism experiment he started in the UK? People are afraid, very afraid.

Cantor specialises in CFD's spread bets etc, certainly not a hedge fund. Not always great having investors buy your stock on margin. Fine on the way up, but stocks get hammered when investors cannot pay their margin calls.

Plectrum Oil have little in the way of assest but did apply for a North Sea licence/s under the DTi's 23rd Licensing Round. The DTi web site states that announcement of successful applications will be made August/September, however I have it on good authority that something will be forthcoming this lunchtime. The reference was vauge but I'm assuming it will be the final announcement and not some interim statement. Regards LB

An article in the Guardian reports: "...city speculators reckon Table Mountain will resume trading in September after completing the acquisition of Plectrum Petroleum. Plectrum is an oil and gas exploration company which utilises an innovative geophysical technique to detect oil under the sea..."

An article in the Independant yesterday:- "....the city suggests table mountain will return from suspension with a sizeable acquisition. Apparently the group will soon announce the purchase of north sea oil assets which will add significant oil industry names to its board of directors.."

NML appear to be declaring that they are being reversed into (todays' papers). Don't know much about them.Perhaps someone else might, assuming 2 and 2 make 4,of course.

Anyone know anything in addition to the published info? Who are TBL looking to takeover? What effect will this have on the SP? I've only got questions, anyone got answers?

Thanks wilbs. Seems to be moving nicely, or is it just part of the general rise in mining stocks.

Trem,Deckergj I have tried to lose my "virginity" on Table Mountain(Physicially since 1986!)but have not not succeeded as yet, thanks to the rock rabbits!!(Dassies as localy known!) On a more serious note...... I do pity you who tried to make a quick buck in TBL(Tried myself with other companies in the past)and lost loads. After my previous experiences I decided to phone MR Lucas, before I invested in TBL.To my surprise, he answered, and after a brief Q&A session it became clear that this is not a short term investment.......
