19/9/2014 16:13 | Any views on the prelim results ? after a quick look they look OK/good to me.... main tasks imo were to stabilise the co. and ensure no degredation in the debt situation...which they have imo done... | smithie6
09/9/2014 15:44 | bit of volume today....near top of price range....a Y trade | smithie6
01/7/2014 10:37 | "PG sold a block in early March." havent checked....was that perhaps to provide some shares to the mkt to allow the new MD to buy some ??...since pretty illiquid | smithie6
01/7/2014 10:35 | "EB will represent a vested interest and should therefore not be referred to as independent". is he supposed to be ? updated (as you say ...the representative of a large shareholder cant act as the indep. director on the board...Im sure your right) | smithie6
01/7/2014 10:34 | EB.....I have met him...and some e-mails and read his brief business profile seems an OK and logical addition to SWL imo while noting he doesnt have cosmetics sector experience ...but of course not there to provide that knowledge imo...he is also on the board at FIF which sells products to the public perhaps similar in some ways... personally I prefer him wrt a Marshall ...to avoid any question about whether on the bod to obtain personal benefit via dir. fees from family investment capital...(which can clock up year after year...especially if sit as a director on a number of boards....and the rest of the bod is unlikely to ever attempt to get rid of the voter of a large % of the shares....since they may instead soon find themselves voted off by their target !) (clearly there as Western Sel. rep) (some might argue that that was the situation at Creston....for many years....for David C.Marshall...with the MD being the main leader of possible gravy train) | smithie6
01/7/2014 09:38 | Topvest. I note your postings on NBI and FIF. How well do you know EB? | countryman5
01/7/2014 08:12 | Well it's been a long battle, but eventually WSE have Board representation. They should do given their 16% holding I think. | topvest
01/7/2014 07:21 | I welcome the presence of EB onto the Board. Hopefully this will allow our largest shareholders to learn and understand their business, although 4 non execs is too many for such a small company. EB will represent a vested interest and should therefore not be referred to as independent. | countryman5
25/6/2014 19:55 | PG sold a block in early March. Market likes the news and share price rises. Coming to the end of year. PG buys back a few at higher price. Good news to be soon announced? | countryman5
31/3/2014 18:04 | ...cool --- nice % gain btw for anyone who managed to buy around 80p not long ago | smithie6
27/3/2014 13:43 | tipped in shares magazine today | pyemckay
21/3/2014 16:08 | ah, I'm a bit slow today. just looked at the other RNS.. Ruffer look to be the buyer, for discretional clients I have seen posts saying it is a respected inv. house if so, its a good sign, hopefully (PGs average purchase price is around 40p if my memory is correct.... so he can afford to let some of his shares go to Ruffer) | smithie6
21/3/2014 15:45 | ah ha ..so, looks like P Gyllenhammer has sold around 4-5% of SWL, is that right... so new holder would have to declare that I assume within X days. (I guess that always 'possible' that one part of PG company structure has sold to another part....or to PG in personal name) | smithie6
19/3/2014 10:48 | There appears to be a new major shareholder | countryman5
27/2/2014 12:17 | just had a look at the results.... seemed quite good to me....in terms of ... - having stopped any further slide from previous period - been very busy by the looks of it....(and not easy imo to be a new arrival and suddenly take over exec. role at a company with a large payroll and small margin) - done solid work with reducing inventory and reducing debt - cashflow was +ve....(depreciation is around 1/2M for H1, hits PBT numbers ) - various snippets look +ve imo ...personally I liked the item about bringing out some "own brand" products where not competing with any existing customers....somethi Creighton's have had good progress from their "own brand" labels..hopefully SWL will have similar success from own labels... ---- so my own view is well done to the dirs.....deserve a quick break and a cup of tea after those busy last months !! | smithie6
14/2/2014 15:19 | sp has slowly been grinding upwards... | smithie6
11/2/2014 20:09 | Figures out at end of February?? New Chief Exec bought shares before close period. | countryman5
14/11/2013 16:34 | Attended AGM, things are looking very promising. A smart team in place and indications are that they are getting busy and working on better margins. A lot of export work which hopefully will not be impacted by stronger pound. I think directors knew what they were doing with recent purchases. Purchases should get a mention in tomorrows IC. | countryman5
13/11/2013 09:47 | AGM tomorrow. Anybody going to meet the new team? | countryman5
10/11/2013 18:12 | Western has a subsidiary ...Hartim....and it invested in buying a distribution co. out of administration, a distributor it had been using.... ....later on it was back in administration ! ...OK, cant win them all ...3M written off Marshall junior and EB from Western both sit on the board .....the western accounts seem to point the finger at the Hartim execs. but the above 2 sit on the board and must have reviewed and agreed the plan and investment. My previous post was referring to those 2. THeir previous attempt at investing in an unlisted co. was Doctors Direct, EB and Marshall senior were on the board. Went into administration only 18 months after listing !...cash raised had been smoked ! | smithie6
07/11/2013 17:59 | 100,000 sale at .77p? Interesting. | countryman5
06/11/2013 17:33 | SM6 What is the subsidiary to which you refer? NBI and Finsbury are doing well. I am hoping to be at AGM. this company ought to go private. Do we have a team in place who want to take it private, I suspect that they could raise the finance or will the two largest shareholders want too much for their holdings? | countryman5
06/11/2013 11:39 | Countryman you might be interested by the way Marshall junior and E.B. are part of the bod of Western subsidiary/associate that has recently blown 3M pnds by investing in a venture that has gone into administration (on the other hand, while also increasing the profitability) At SWL, shareholders being unhappy with results caused the chairperson and later the MD to be pushed out......whereas, at the 'pushers', bad performance and they dont depart ...ironic no. (since the Marshalls own and control that co. so not gonna sack themselves !) | smithie6
06/11/2013 11:34 | dirs. bt. 1.4 % of the co. +ve sign imo hopefully this is a turning point on the chart for SWL ---- 'Eezymunny' surely you are joking are you 5 ?! | smithie6 |
