11/7/2016 08:58 | If we carry on in this vein of orders, we are going to need another, and bigger factory. | regandharry5
11/7/2016 08:46 | We just don't know at this stage !! | condom2
11/7/2016 08:38 | Is this announcement a progression/upgrade of what was already going on or just simply bringing a few more details into the public domain as a post-Brexit soother? | albert_einstein
11/7/2016 08:33 | This could of course lead to a "land grab" scramble by the other OEMs. Notably a certain Stuttgart based manufacturer was keen to avoid being excluded. | longshanks
11/7/2016 08:26 | I have now seen the FinnCap morning note. This says that this one deal announced today could use three quarters of the capacity of the new factory and furnace "raising the prospect that the capacity of the factory could be fully booked before it is even completed". Not sure on what numbers that is based, but FinnCap are pretty positive on this. | graham1ty
11/7/2016 08:14 | It would be interesting to get clarification on "series supply". It would be nice to read that as "not just one model but a series of cars" and the move from an OEM trying SCE brakes on just one model to generally being the supplier for their cars would be the break through many of us have been waiting for. Anyhow, who knows ? But at least the RNS seems to be taken as positive. | graham1ty
11/7/2016 08:12 | Just wishful thinking !! | condom2
11/7/2016 08:08 | Stuttgart IMHO. | condom2
11/7/2016 08:06 | To be fair, it is British OEM1 where we are anticipating a production agreement on a specific model. Some believe that model has just been revealed to the market / so production agreements could be next. The German OEM under consideration is of a different scale though, so one can expect the due diligence and processes to be that more thorough. | longshanks
11/7/2016 08:01 | I'm slightly confused by this announcement. I thought the next stage was a production agreement not pre-production with hurdles still to come. Is this one of the mid year deals we were expecting? | albert_einstein
11/7/2016 07:47 | Much as I am a fan of this company, the news item doesn't really justify the gap-up in price this morning. | longshanks
11/7/2016 07:45 | To become an approved and in situ supplier to the likes of a "leading German performance car manufacturer" - especially in a new area like CC brakes - takes inordinate time and patience. Especially for a micro-cap like SCE. It's great to see that the partnership is developing well and being formalised in this manner. The "expected annualised revenues after start of production reaching approximately £10m-£12 As longshanks says, it can also be taken as a post-Brexit sign of confidence that things are continuing to progress. | rivaldo
11/7/2016 07:43 | I am pretty sure we know who the OEM is - and they are a manufacturer who basically pioneered the use of PCCB brakes [whoops - big hint ;)].If it is the manufacturer I believe it is, tired of all their customers complaints over the chopped fibre version, a "series" contract means - "for all models, until a better product comes along". | longshanks
11/7/2016 07:35 | And a chance to sneak in a couple of hundred grand of unexpected cost ? And raise a production standard VDA6.3 that we did not really know about ? Countered with "series supply" whatever that is ? Sounds better than just "supply" !!! | graham1ty
11/7/2016 07:29 | I agree. There is no meaningful financial aspect to this agreement and without a name, the numbers quoted just encourage speculation.I guess it could be taken as a subtle post-Brexit note of encouragement that all is ok. | longshanks
11/7/2016 07:23 | I am never quite clear what these announcements mean.......but closer and closer ties to an OEM is what we are after and both working towards ironing out issues, and towards production can only be good ? This needs a drip feed of news as it has been such a long wait for an OEM actually to get named. | graham1ty
07/7/2016 10:54 | Longshanks, I don't think thatwe are disagreeing; the aim is to get the costs down sufficiently to be able to sell at £500 with a 50% margin - ultimately. Having just looked at the AGM presentation to refresh my memory, pages 13 and 14 both refer to capacity being 17,000 discs and sales of £15m. | knownowt
07/7/2016 08:14 | Just to add the production of the AM RB 001 is 99-150 road cars (not finally decided but there has been so much interest that I believe it will be the higher number) and 25 track only cars. I think the £2.2 million revenue from OEM1 in 18/19 is this car. hxxp://www.autocar.c hxxp://www.carmagazi | robinbell
07/7/2016 08:12 | Happy to be wrong - but I think the plan was to get the price down to approx £500 per disk. | longshanks
06/7/2016 22:11 | I think that you are making one misconception re cost. Brembo is charging nearly €1000 per disc; why would SCE sell a better product at approx. half that price? 100 cars would imply income of near €400k, but that would just be the start. Koenigsegg is a great name to have on the bed-head but it doesn't have real volume at 10/15 cars per year, or even perhaps double that. Aston Martin as a customer would be a fantastic boost and, I believe, would encourage other fence-sitters to commit. The board will be conscious of its responsibilities re any forecast, but the fact that decisions have been taken to move production to substantially larger premises, and to order more plant, has to speak volumes about its confidence that the unnamed OEMs will deliver. | knownowt
06/7/2016 11:56 | Indeed - the same thought crossed my mind. 99 of these HyperCars are planned which would equate to income of approx £200k.My guess is that this model is a statement of intent by AM. Having the same brakes on their new £100k model as the ones on their £2.5m model could be the lead in to using an improved braking system around ST disks.I note that for the RB-001 they comment on having done a complete redesign. | longshanks
06/7/2016 11:04 | In the last Trading Update the Company said the revenues from OEM 1 would be £2.2m in the first 2 years from the limited edition vehicle. The new Aston Martin has only a project production of about 100 cars which probably does not fit with £2.2m revenue. | mjcrockett
05/7/2016 22:46 | Unveiled today was the Aston Martin AM-RB 001 a limited edition supercar due to be available in 2018. From the photos, one could almost make out the brakes have a carbon ceramic look to them. Could this be OEM 1 mentioned in the trading update last month? The dates and spec match and wouldn't a constructor of the fastest car want the same brakes as the Koenigsegg as standard? | bdaonion
04/7/2016 10:34 | Market limits on the offer are very tight this morning. The growing confidence is palpable. | longshanks |
