....as a share picker...PS is terrible....a common subject in his mail out is whether he should average down !!...that proves my point...
....I listed some terrible share picks of his...his failure % rate for someone writing to many investors is imo "terrible"....

He choses sectors from stamps to airplane hire....ridiculous imho.

And it is useful imo for investors that someone highlights this...

He is one of your inv. conference speakers....& you need/want to sell tickets....so my opinions are not helpful for you....
( conferences, to 'help investors'....or make a personal profit ?.noting it is a lot of work & risk .....few ppl wld do it just to help others....if so, credit to you)

Free speech....esp. on msg brds.)

Me too mac
unfortunately I was out earlier on and so missed the actual peak sp
but happy enough with the gain
will be back if/when the share price hits the lower trend line again.

Pete - indeed. I also think the share price rise we had the last few days is nearly done (imo). On this basis, have banked my profit, but looking to return soon.

Smithie6.....this will be my last post on the subject as frankly pointless !

Firstly.....You said

....you defend PS

But readers should be aware imo that PS is imo a business associate of yours....he has imo given talks at shows you organise...so if he had a poor imagine...tjen harder for you to sell tickets to your Investor Shows...perhaps...

You kept those facts hidden from readers in defending PSs share picking ..

Now lets be very clear.

I run top quality events to benefit investors so I get the best possible speakers and my track record speaks for itself on that. The fact that Paul Scott is top of many lists and attracts a huge audience at paid for (not free walk in events) tells you that I know what I am talking about.

I do not hide anything....the events are marketed amongst investors and furthermore I consider Paul to be a friend outside investing too. There really is nothing for him to answer to. He has posted on here and you have already said that he is respected by investors.

Why are you continuing to pick out ones that he called incorrectly when we are ALL very capable of that ? Live with his mistakes but accept that he works tirelessly (as do I ) to try and improve the environment for investors and help others gain knowledge within the markets in which we all have to exist !

Personally I think if you had said that Paul does some great things and highlighted those but occasionally gets some calls wrong and by all means mention a couple then that is fine. You are on a mission with negativity and personal attacks at the core of your argument so lets end it here.

..I agree with post ref current chart...

But

Imho ppl are still queuing to buy....and the shares are not expensive imo considering recent profit growth, P/E and news such as overseas expansion ( omitted in recent audio interview) , operational gearing....

So...while logic & chart might expect a pull back after recent rise...chance of x that might not happen...

Worth noting imo the fast up trend of last 6 months

See what happens

(& ..recent new buyers might buy a few more perhaps !.....& illiquid overall...so doesnt need many buys to move share price up

( PS & "mutual friend" ( I tweeted who ) are looking at it again......if they buy then might help sp)

As I wrote yesterday PS seems like a nice bloke...and has had a positive contribution to uk investing...highlighting excessive dir. benefits...and getting/helping many ppl to look at accounts...and saving many money by avoiding cos. with terrible accounts...

But imo my view of poor track record is also a valid point.

End...lets get back to STM.

btw
....PS had some STM shares lower down...and sold them !!...so he missed the best share buy on AIM in 2015 !! despite having chats with directors and "buy" tips from collegues and magazines..you couldnt make it up !!

....you miss the point....and perhaps havent seen all the info ...

PS discloses shares he owns and if he writes his views on co. results and buys since likes them..he mentions it...

PS repeatedly writes about shares HE OWNS.....excessively...but natural I guess since we all follow with interest shares we own..

With 3-8000 recipients of views ( readers % = ?)....some may wonder whether a element of ramping exists.

.....if writing to large distribution and claiming to know what you're talking about....and giving speeches at Investor shows...then my point of high % of losing picks is a valid point imo

----

My picks and analysis can be read on website fulltimeinvestors.com and via tweets..@fulltimeinvest
But little interest from readers despite excellent track record....incl. $/€ turn point at 1.39:1....& DOW turn point in Oct. crash & August....& NASDAQ falling point in August...&....
......ppl seem to prefer to read an author with poor track record....incl 30% loss with S.Gibbons yesterday...

right on macc - I read lots of opinions but I only investigate the few that fit my personal system. But you can never have too many ideas in front of you so if smithie is prepared to give it a go I would encourage him. Time + Results will tell if it becomes a useful source.

Not heard of Minervini so I'll look it up.

My chart suggests the stm mini rise is nearly done for now and could return to the support line again somewhere around 60 over the next week or so. A bit disappointing really. I was hoping for a little bit more but I guess one step at a time is ok.

Lets wait and see what today brings.

Bottom line is 'dyor'. Appreciate reading other people's views on different shares as it helps me spot opportunities. But I only buy the ones who fit my system/rules (hasn't always been like this I admit, but I fixed it). If you don't have a system, get some education and create one. Reading Mark Minervini's book helped me a lot.

Smithie - To a degree I support melody's point - if you are really so unhappy with the way some innocents are being sucked into inadvisable tips then, if you can, perhaps you should try to do something about it. Maybe you could start your own thread and then you could demonstrate your picking skills to others. After a while people get fed up with those who only knock. Be a man, give it a go. I would take a look. best regards, pete

Smithie - actually you miss the point. PS writes about his shares, he does not recommend them.

Why don't you write up front about your current holds and then everyone can see how they perform.....and you can see how you feel when people ridicule you for buying the losers in the first place.

I don't share many of Paul's holds but I do enjoy reading his thoughts. Thanks
Paul for the work you put in.

Looks like Shares mag. tipped STM on 26 March

..so looks like they were perhaps 1st official tipsters to suggest STM

Looks like 1st IC buy tip was 27th April....someone said it was 2 pages !!
Simon Thompson. Inv. Chron.
..the share price roughly doubled since then..
..around post number 150 if interested

Update around 2nd Sept....I think looking at the Interim results ?...also lifted the sp

( I dont subscribe.....to anything at the moment...but often it is worth the money....)

"Mutual friend" referred to in the Audioboom chat that caused recent price spike ( that caused P.Scott to sell his STM holding a few months ago at much lower price....)

I've just tweeted saying who I think it is....from there you can progress to read the opinions of that "mutual friend"....if you havent already....assuming you have a PC and a rough idea how to use it !

(Note. If the share price is the only factor.....one could 'argue' that the "mutual friend" was wrong since the share price has almost doubled since then...but time will tell)

Indeed play the ball not the man !

Top marks to Paul who, as usual, is totally honest and frank about his trades.

Good luck to all here. I only have a small holding bought about six months ago and I have never met the management to help build my confidence and then my appetite to buy more.

Paul Scott has a well above average track record but more importantly his morning blog with analysis of company results is about the best daily read for any small to mid cap company investor and he clearly states whether he owns the stocks or not.

Nearly 8000 read his blog each day and even the City acknowledge that it is excellent quality content.

He is the investors friend and provides a great service for free and you will not gain respect or credibility by knocking him. Just my honest opinion

IC wrote on 2nd Sept about Shareholder activism

Has there been some shareholder activism at STM ?!

I dont think I was aware of any ....I cant recall one post about that sort of thing at STM..

Ref. S.Thomson of Inv. Chr.
...looks to me like he perhaps tipped STM at end of April at around 35p.

..half current price

...S.Thompson seems to come up with some decent picks occasionally but also some duds....( he also picked Pilat Media which went x2.5 from his tipped price....(I had got in before but it adds to your confidence level when something you already have is then tipped)
( always nice to be in before the tipsters arrive ;-) )

Tipsters. So a subscription to Inv. Chr. might be a decent cost to pay....
( but if want to get in a lower price and be ahead of ST....then Im willing to take subscriptions....but little/no interest recently....
...although !....my watch list is tiny at present...little out there at the moment imho that looks tempting...

Paul Scott writes and audio broadcasts about shares ....via Stockopedia...via Twitter...via Audioboom

Hence he claims to be knowledgeable and worthy of listening to

If he repeatedly picks shares that lose money...as he has done in 2014/5...then it is worthy of note....

'Tipsters' get praised and slated for their track record.....its normal....and imho very useful ( otherwise readers of PS would not know his high % of bad calls...)

And share writers get followed/read or not ..based on their past success/fail % for their share picks..

-----

On the plus side PS seems a nice bloke.....and probably a lot more integrity than most people linked to the stock market...
And has perhaps saved many people money with his free comments on accounts...."these accounts are a disaster....why would anyone buy these shares"...
....but some others out here also read accounts..but happy to read all info sources...incl. msg brds...

Smithie6....STM was mentioned on a Paul Scott audiocast two days ago.

Why do you tend to denigrate what Paul Scott does and suggest his share buying and selling is of a standard below your own ?

There is no need to do it at all.
