A few years ago there was talk of the Chinese wanting a 'western' bank, and prepared to pay around £20 a share. Whatever happened to that idea?

What a depressing find, the BB instigator Only One Storm has at the top of the page, "will it break £9 today"

He was talking about it going up through £9 to a massive rise to £11 IN DECEMBER 2001

Unfortunately now we are looking at it going through £9 in the opposite direction, nearly 13 years later

Don't suppose by turning the title upside down we could improve this relentless fall.Surprised no takeover bid has come in.The culprits for this fall are the Arabs without a shadow of doubt.HSBC has the same exposure in Asia and Barclays with the Saudi. They are not targeted so there has to be a very distorted reason to which we have no answer; yet.

Interesting.....articles in the financial press saying that several large shareholders are suggesting that the company will need to raise funds but the bank itself strongly denies that it will.
They have a very large amount of their loan portfolio in natural resources which leaves them open to major defaults going forward.

Seems to have settled around the 940p mark. Seems to be on a decent P/E rating and is paying a good dividend so hopefully won't go any lower assuming no more bad news. IMHO
