22/2/2017 22:10 | Funny, I was expecting a report on the conclusion of the first year of the big contract, before it had been concluded. Foolish I suppose. Also, I'd expect to be fully informed to the extent of at least saying 'the project is being done' or something similar. They could at least publish the entire specifications that have been negotiated over this first year. Sorry, what's that ? The Russians and Chinese are trying to find out all sorts of stuff about other countries defence plans, using cyber-terrorism ? Surely not. Must be tabloid scare-mongering. | yump

17/2/2017 08:16 | Without GeoVS, SRT would be a loss making uninvestible business, so probably wise to make efforts to protect their vital asset. | owenski
17/2/2017 08:10 | The GeoVS people may be of a different opinion and it is always wise to take on-board the views of the staff of a new and important acquisition. I suspect also there is more room for patent-blocking in this new area than there is assembling product for an ordained standard ... even if you add tweaks. | dieseltaylor
16/2/2017 16:19 | iirc, ST's view on patents was not so much that they could be "got around" but that they could be expensive to defend. My impression from this latest news is that GeoVS might be so important to SRT that it needs to be protected by patent. Clearly there are elements of what GeoVS does and how it does it which are capable of being copied so making that harder for others must be felt to be worthwhile. Other products are also important to SRT but they make high performance and reliability a key selling feature and leave it to the market to chose who produces the best kit. | alter ego
16/2/2017 15:52 | Mr Tucker didn't think that patents were appropriate for the Identifiers and other products, and, yes, he did say that could be got round. But I don't think he ever gave a blanket 'no patents' type statement, I think the attitude was if they felt patents were appropriate and offered something, then they would go down that route. I'm more than happy to trust their judgement on this issue. | the prophet
16/2/2017 15:42 | "rather tiresome" is being very very polite imo! I thought Tucker always said that patents were not worth it , easily got around!! hmmm! what's changed? cashcall anyone! | hjb1
16/2/2017 14:08 | Thanks OwenskiOn reflection I was probably being a bit mean. I was guessing Saudi would be not a lot and forgot about recent African order. So , yes, perhaps something around the £7m mark would be more like it. Decent deliverables and could be in the £13m-£15m range. All still to play for, but, must admit, this last minute thing yet again is getting rather tiresome. | the prophet
16/2/2017 13:16 | Hi TP, I had numbers of 2.7 x 2 = 5.4 core. plus - 1m for Saudi start, plus 500k for recent fisheries start, which comes to 7m and then maybe a few bits and bobs on top not always notified? So, at least 7m maybe 8 at best..... Like I said, only guesswork, but anything from 5 to 8 will be viewed badly as the basic forecast was for 12m with possible updates and I reckon most investors are looking for more than 12m. The time frame is getting tight and I dont think I'm the only one concerned that we haven't had more news flow re- meaningful financial orders by now. That being said, I still think it is timing and that we are at the start of an uptake in revenues, even if we miss by six months, the underlying business is still attractive IMO. | owenski
16/2/2017 12:33 | RNS out at 11.30 re patent for 3D visualisation. All helps to keep SRT at the top. | 2vdm
16/2/2017 12:32 | ps, the share price has always been a reasonable indicator for SRT, so, on that front, things look positive for a good outcome. | the prophet
16/2/2017 12:30 | No use by date on the jam, let's hope we're not bringing the jam back at the next agm, under 5 months to the next one! Without the sig deliverables, I feel Owenski's £7m-£8m for the year could prove to be optimistic. £2.7m was the half time score. Would need £5m this half, without deliverables, to make that. I'm not sure SRT will have done that?. No sig deliverables in this half and I can see something like £5m-£6m. It may not matter too much if we are assured the sig. deliverable is coming early in the new f/y. I would also ask where these new project starts are that we were promised at the interims by the chairman: 'As such we continue to look to the future with great optimism and will update the market with further announcements and guidance as project deliverables are completed and new projects commence. ' We're either in for a bumper time for news-flow over the next few weeks or it's back to that jam again, place your bets! | the prophet |
