Interim Report 2016 - Simon Rogers:
"Most of our projects are considered to be of national strategic importance and thus SRT is subject to strict confidentiality which places significant restrictions on the details we can provide shareholders on the status of these projects."

think it was prophet who said and I agree that no news should be good news on the basis that if there was a failure in any "significant deliverable" there would be an obligation on SRTs part to RNS it.

Tucker seemed frustrated that tech journalists, for example, wanted to know what the app did, and, when they realised that it was about tracking boats, switched off completely. Apparantly, these journos work in a bunker, so if it's tech, then a tech journo; defence, then a defence journo etc. Tucker reckoned that a defence journo would have a much better understanding of the what the company does.

WRT to institutions, who have their own daft ways of doing things, I don't think reclassification would do much.

Hi LaValmy,

Thanks for this. What implications might reclassification have for perception (and therefore sp), if any ? Positive or negative ?

TIA

Sort of following on from yump's point, I have just checked to see if they have managed to be reclassified, as was mooted for last autumn. The answer, according to the LSE company profile, is no. Still stuck in the semiconductor subsector of Tech Hardware & Equipment.

Not so sure that US involvement would create any extra confidentiality issues. Indeed, SRT was not naming Indonesia as the customer last March, but Qnective was happy to. Now, with the new video, which so obviously refers to Indonesia, all pretence of confidentiality of the customer is out the window. The actual operational details are, and I imagine, will always be confidential.

The US is very much engaged in all of this - the Philippines (pre Duterte), Vietnam and nudging Japan to own more of the issue as well as the current visit by the US in Japan. And no doubt, SRT's success with Indonesia will generate even more success in the region, although most of the countries have been in discussions with SRT for years already anyway. But I think that this is primarily an Indonesian project.

I now think also that it was Indonesia that was the proximate cause of the divorce with eE. They have their own AIS satellite, with a 80 mile width through the middle of the archipelago which seems very similar to what is featured in the video. They have a second, orbiting mainly over land, that is also equipped with AIS reception.

As regards timing/phases etc, my guess is that the detailed planning about what to install and where has been done and they are just waiting for sign-off before roll-out. Contrary to Owenski's view, I reckon that the timeline in the video is current, as in once the nod is given, they will install the national centre first etc and the whole will be finished in two years. In terms the timing of shipments/revenue recognition who knows?

For SRT so much seems to depend upon the Indonesian contract that I have had a cursory look to see if there is any collateral information that refers to or impacts the contract.

Clearly, maritime domain management (MDM) of the area around the Indonesian islands is important for a number of economic, geopolitical and security reasons.

Looking at the job specs for similar US projects, perhaps staff working on the SRT project are bound to secrecy – this may well include ST and account for the lack of progress reports.

1. US collaboration agreement October 2016:

US collaboration agreement with the Republic of Indonesia - Section 1 Maritime Security: paras 1.c and 1.d

"c. Collaborate to improve law enforcement and maritime security capacity of Indonesian
maritime agencies through enhancing maritime domain awareness; increasing capacity to
monitor, analyze and respond to maritime activities; and enhancing interoperability and
responsiveness.
d. Collaborate with Indonesian maritime security stakeholder agencies to strengthen
integration of Indonesia's maritime domain awareness surveillance systems, to include
coastal radar, manned and unmanned aerial platforms, and ship-based assets. "

2. Although from a year ago (pre-Trump), this article seems to set out some of the maritime domain issues.

The South China Sea maritime border dispute may escalate tension between US and China and impact upon Indonesia and its strategic alliances. The SRT project seems to provide important information support to the government and its allies.

Searching the article on the words "Marine domain" takes you to some of the main issues of relevance to SRT.

3. Indonesia working on maritime issues with Japan as well.

fwiw, I spoke with SRT today regarding a misleading typo on the new web site. The error was corrected shortly afterwards which suggests they have excellent in house content handling ability.
Although I was not given any inside information, quite properly, I was told they are "very busy". That sounds fine to me.

If of course the video is an accurate representation of the time scale.

As SRT have billed Indonesia last year for the initial phase of the project - the assessment phase, then its fair to say the clock is ticking.

By my calculation, give or take, we are roughly at day 300 of the time line, and one can see more control stations have already been laid out, add in another 60 days or two months and one can see the rapid proliferation.

Also note the 'boat' part occurs more to the end of the time scale.

Either way it's a reasonable guide to progress even if the time scale is not entirely to scale.

I'm of the opinion that SRT are currently working on putting a substantial 'deliverable' together but will not announce until the whole package has been 'delivered' and at that point this will be billed and the market informed. Whether this takes place this side of the reporting deadline or in the new FY is the problem, SRT wont be including sums pro rata in order to massage a reporting season.

Waiting is always annoying but behind the scenes from what I gather, business is progressing, one either takes a view of the business and understands there is still this lumpy reporting problem until multiple projects really start to bite.

SRT have transformed from a box seller to a full Maritime security organisation.

I hope at the least SRT make their stated 12m for this year as they need to establish credibility in the city. However, the projects are in the public domain and not in SRT's imagination and the momentum is building.

I think we are likely to see some large deliverables coming in this year, as always, timing is still an issue at SRT, but an issue that will recede if one has the patience to sit it out, if not, then the sell button is available.

IMO. Regards

If I remember correctly didn't Indonesia want it done in 2 years originally? And SRT suggested 3 years as being more realistic?

A lot of new videos posted on vimeo in the last few weeks
The individual product videos (homemade) are low quality (imo) so presumably not aimed at customers

The timeline certainly shows the plan to complete the job in approx 2 years. The big question is when does that 2 year period begin? Of course it may already be underway. What the timeline suggests is that we are well beyond requirement specification and that planning has defined the location of various elements. I think there is a lot more detail we are not shown as I cannot imagine SRT would produce a video of a purely hypothetical project solution that so obviously identifies the country involved.

Some elements of the video are clearly nothing to do with Indonesia, for instance a number of North sea oilfields briefly flashes up at 02:29 and we see the Straights of Dover further on.

It is a tantalising glimpse into something we are all keen to know more about but it certainly looks as if this project is on track given the 3 years we were told it would take.

I noticed that timeline but I suspect that this may be after the planning stage highlighted in the extract from the Mar 2016 RNS below...

The Agreement requires SRT to work closely with the customer to assist with the specification, planning and implementation of the complete project as well as the supply of equipment, software, data and services. The project will be implemented in three distinct phases over an expected period of three years with the Agreement requiring that each phase is successfully completed and accepted by the end customer before proceeding to the next phase. The requirements for each phase are different in specification, scale and value and will be reflected in separate sub-agreements ("Sub-Agreement") for each phase.

I think some people are of the thinking that each stage is equally split into 3 one year time zones but I think that is not the case. It is quite possible that we are close to completing stage 2 (although I have no better idea than anyone else) and that we are about to embark on the implementation stage but who knows?

As this is such a big project for SRT it would be good to have an RNS at the completion of each of the first 2 stages but we are a little bit in the dark as to whether that would/should have happened.

That said, the video suggests that we are progressing well.

I'm sure normal service will be resumed soon.

back to matters SRT, did anyone watch the video that ee first highlighted?

They are clearing referencing Indonesia in the video, as well as Europe.
Around 3.30 they give a time-line with Indonesia in the background. Looks to my untrained eye like they make substantial progress within a year and finish the job in about two years. Interesting?.....

Last time I heard someone use 'pal' a lot it was before they started a fight in a pub full of football hooligans.
LOL (that's ironic btw)

I think it is time for the filter, which of course is interpreted as head in the sand and hiding from reality, despite the obvious fact that most people here have had a very long and good dose of reality.

If that makes you feel better 'pal'. You can go around and tell everyone that nobody would take any notice of your reality, even though you're not telling anyone anything they didn't already know. Over and over and over.
