Not wishing to build up any hopes or provide false promises but, I am in touch with a company here in the UK (Magenta One Ltd) that deals with Class Actions (mostly in the US) and corporate governence. I informed them of the past goings on at Sportsworld that ultimately led to receivership. They are interested in pursuing a case on behalf of the shareholders to assess whether we were disadvantaged through negligence or mis management. What they need is a list of disadvantaged shareholders that support an action.
Previously, there was a shareholder who set up an action group but, because it became too time consuming, could no longer continue. If you are in touch with that person, please ask him or her to respond to this message.
Cheers, Kelvin

UPDATE 02 MAY 03

As you all know, i received an e-mail from PricewaterhouseCoopers (SWD's receivers) on 21 OCT 02 (See Post 190 above) stating ""In short, there is no prospect of a return to
shareholders."

As some people (including myself!) still have SWD showing in our trading accounts, i e-mailed Mr Scollay today (02 MAY 03)for an update, particularly regarding a return of any money to shareholders.

I have just received his reply.

As expected, there is NO change, i.e. "in that there is no prospect
of a return to shareholders such as yourself."

Sorry guys !!

Cheers,Porky

PS Here is the e-mail i just received:

----------------------------------------------------------------

Date: 02 MAY 03

Dear Mr P,

Unfortunately the position remains as before, in that there is no prospect
of a return to shareholders such as yourself. The Receivership remains
ongoing as we continue to dispose of the few remaining assets, and deal
with the legal and statutory issues arising, however the resolution of
these issues will not affect the outcome for shareholders.

I hope the above is of assistance.

Regards
M Scollay

Just for info...received from my brokers today:

We have received further information regarding the receivership of
SPORTSWORLD MEDIA GROUP.

As you will be aware receivers were appointed to the Company in APRIL 2002.
The Company's shares were suspended from the Official List at the Boards
request on 2 APRIL 2002.

We have been advised that the Inland Revenue has now declared your
SPORTSWORLD MEDIA GROUP ORD 1P shares of negligible value. The shares have
been removed from your account.

Will the liquidator publish final results? I am interested to see what the bits were worth and why someone was offering to buy shares at .001 of value. What happened there? Too many mysteries here I'd like to see cleared up. I didn't have a large interest so my curiosity is fairly low level!

Yeah, mine too, I spoke to IMIWEB when it disapeared and they told me I still had it but they had done it just to tidy up my portfolio. Now its back again. Its still telling me that its worth 75% of what I paid for it! I doubt they will let me sell it for that though!!
