I was paying 15% on my second house back in Cambridge yrs ago.
Now my old house worth £22.000 back then is £450.000 today and rising.
Children are now paying 1% on their houses. LOL

Go back further to around 89 -90`s when rates were above 15% - I paid 17% on one commercial mortgage - the good old days.:-)

It boggles the mind to think interest rates used to be over 5pc 10 years ago. How would people pay their mortgages now if rates were that high?

Exactly my thoughts. But there were no surprises in that decision plus the FED might not have indicated another rise in the foreseeable future.

Why is the dollar getting dumped if interest rates are going up?

Having run my own business in the past, i know cash flow is key to success. When i look at company accounts, the most important statement for me is operating cash flow and to determine whether a stock is expensive or cheap i compare cash flow to market cap. By my reckoning, SPD is dirt cheap. I'm having trouble justifying buying shares (long term) in any other company because they're all so expensive in comparison to SPD.

Yes I feel the same. I've missed out on BT ,SKY and HIK . Make some money elsewhere and you can always re-enter SPD at a later date.

Just ran out of patience that's all Nortic. I really can't see Ashley buying all these shares around £3 if they were worth much less. Needed to invest the money into something else Good luck

I see this morning of another example of one dimensional reporting in the press . They (press) are always trying to champion the shareholder but then also trying to create value destruction which harms........you guessed it, the shareholders . Very strange

Weak pound which could also trigger interest rate rise not helping sentiment today.

I noticed when in Spalding (prime shopping outlet) last week that the SPD store had moved from its smaller store to a larger corner store with a greater range of its products now being shown.
Long and strong here as they say:)
