29/11/2016 12:07 | I agree Sports Direct offer an important service on the high street, and they differ in terms of cost and availability. I have faith this will come good longer term. 450p in 6 months time imo. | terminated
29/11/2016 06:30 | Well, I don't think 90% of sports wear stocked in spd is seasonal. Tennis might be. In addition to au comment there is plenty of sports type tops and trousers that are warm but not worn to play sports. SPD is ideal to buy childrens' xmas presents that you know will be used in colder weather. School shoes are pretty good. I buy light weight gear all year round for Spain but accept one can get a good deal all year round. What store chain is a good alternative? | philo124
28/11/2016 21:01 | Did spot some heavy winter weight stylish firetrap jackets, then over on another wall some serious heavy boots, when in the store the other day. | au24
28/11/2016 20:50 | People buy more sports gear in colder weather? Not sure I get your logic 0.0 | terminated
28/11/2016 19:04 | Long range weather forecast dec/jan much colder, should help sales. | philo124
28/11/2016 17:36 | TerminatedDoesn't seem too far off at pbt £183m (dlook has £151m for FY17 and eps 18.9p).They already warned that their £300m underlying EBITDA would be hit by sterling despite being hedged now, it could be around £265m EBITDA, which by my quick calcs gives pbt of about £190m-£195m, that's an eps of c 26p. Given the previous warnings, ex growth, governance issues, etc etc, would only give this a PE of about 12, so 312p fair value?......who knows, but doesn't seem to be much profit here IMV, but WTFDIK, good luck holders.More issues, the FRC investigating:hTTp:/ | discodave4
28/11/2016 16:31 | I wouldn't mind some more sub 290, maybe ill get them tomorrow . Looking at this optimistically, if Ashley was expecting bad news he wouldn't be buying just under £3 he would wait until they reached rock bottom, so I assume this insinuates £3 is as low as he believes these will realistically go. We maybe therefore can assume any bad news is well and truly factored in. | terminated
28/11/2016 16:18 | After the figures I think?? Nice bounce at the end of the day. | nortic 007
28/11/2016 16:15 | The share buyback should be kicking in below £3 | thevaluehunter
28/11/2016 14:20 | What I don't understand is the brokers consensus regarding pre tax profit for 2016 . Brokers predict an average of 183m pre tax and have downgraded profits by over 100m this year. They said currency fluctuations will hit profits by £35m but are we to assume people have been avoiding SPD on ethical issues which accounts for the other 90m? If so it wont last, money talks long term. | terminated
28/11/2016 14:07 | We'll all be slightly the wiser next week when the figures are out. | nortic 007
28/11/2016 13:47 | Good points. | au24
28/11/2016 13:43 | Exchange rates weighing heavy, no one can really say how the low pound will affect profits and until we get some decent guidance no one can work out a fair valuation. | terminated
28/11/2016 13:09 | I meant shut it down not sell it on. Reverse philanthropy! | semper vigilans
28/11/2016 13:07 | Hi SemperVigilans, Good point ! I see that the GO Outdoors founders have just cashed in their chips and sold out to JD Sports.... ATB | extrader
28/11/2016 13:04 | Would help the shares. Nice to have a yielding stock. | nortic 007
28/11/2016 13:03 | One day, one of these people who have created a business on their own will just decide to shut it down because they have had enough and have sufficient money to live more than comfortably. There will then be mealey-mouthed moaning from MPs and unions about the loss of jobs. | semper vigilans |
