You know, I'm not even anti trades union as I do believe they have a responsible (responsible being the operative word) role to play in civil society but some unions have morphed into political entities with political aims and objectives. Unite and the RMT are just two of this new kind of aggressive union who hate capitalism, profit, private capital and so they try to impose control on those who they see as the enemy.

The sooner unions are exposed to civil action the better. They can take action without consequence, with impunity..The RMT are doing exactly this at Southern Rail. Trying to destroy a private company by undermining its operating capacity and destroying its relationship with the customer..the aim is simple. It's to force the hand of the TFL to try and nationalise the main rail route into London which gives the RMT huge leverage over how people move into and out of London. They enjoy the same power within the Underground

I'd like to think he will stand up to them.

Think it will make him even more determined to put things right but without the so called help from MP's.

I think you're spot on au24. I even noticed in The Mail today's business section that Alex Brummer had some sympathy for Mr Ashley on the basis that MP turned up when they new he was away on business. Poor form .

All the buy backs prompted me to buy in today at £3.13.
They were paying only a little under that and must know some things we don't.
I expect some large rises near term.
I think all the bad news is already factored into the low share price

I think you'll find that the lady who brought the tray in, and the bug...was no tea lady!

Trump - Recession

All retailers face the same currency headwinds as Sports Direct.

And people that are skint will head to Sports Direct.

There is nowhere else to go. They are simply the cheapest. That ain't gonna change

Well if MA wasn't there and the visit was a surprise, it's hard to see how management could have arranged a bug. Something and nothing I would have thought.

Visit went well? The woman MP on telly said the stores were fine, but Shirebrook was a 'dark, dingy depressing place'

This fall today could be a buying opportunity . Where this differentiates from the last fall 2 months ago is there is no profit warning and the visit went well before the bugging incident .

Extremely rude to visit knowing the boss was not on site.

Just think, if you were a tea lady/casual employee in a place like that, it would/could be manna from heaven to have a copy/recording of the high profile meeting to sell to the press or place on U tube.

I cannot for the life of me see MA being that interested or stupid.

Pardon the pun, its a storm in a teacup!

Actually there was a fairly firm rebuttal by the company in the RNS at 08.52.
