Spire Healthcare opens GBP60m state of the art flagship hospital in Nottingham

Spire Healthcare, a UK-leading private hospital group, is pleased to announce that, its new hospital in Tollerton, South Nottingham, opened to patients on 30 April, following successful registration with the Care Quality Commission.

Designed and built with extensive input from consultants, staff and patients, the 58-bed new hospital has five theatres, an endoscopy suite, a 20-room outpatients department and oncology suite, as well as an advanced radiology department that comprises a 3T MRI, CT and X-ray. Spire Nottingham Hospital is the second hospital in the group to have the capability to stream live video and two-way audio feeds from two of its theatres to a large 86" 4k display in the boardroom.

Creating 150 new jobs for the local area, the GBP60m state-of-the-art facility will offer patients a wide range of integrated surgical, medical and diagnostic services that will meet the needs of Nottingham and its surrounding areas.

Will Pressley, Spire Nottingham Hospital Director, said:

"This is the first time that Spire Healthcare has built a greenfield facility in an entirely new operational area. In our initial planning stages, there was strong feedback from consultants that this is where a hospital was needed to provide Nottingham and wider East Midland communities with excellent access to a comprehensive range of medical services and up-to-date facilities.

"Spire Healthcare has made a huge investment in outstanding patient services, excellent patient accommodation and the best technology, enabling us to deliver the highest quality care and clinical outcomes for all our patients at Spire Nottingham Hospital. I am very pleased to have been part of the leadership team for this project and I believe we have the best independent hospital in the Midlands area".

Neil McCullough, Spire's Group Development Director, said:

"Nottingham is a successful and vibrant city and we are delighted to be joining the local health community with the opening of an advanced hospital befitting of the City's status. I am pleased that we have been able to open and register this fantastic new facility so quickly - a credit to our development and hospital management teams who have all worked incredibly hard to make it happen.

The new state-of-the-art Spire Nottingham Hospital marks our entry into an entirely new local market, and will bring significant employment and economic benefits to the local community as well as a leading healthcare centre for Nottingham. Coming on line just three months after the opening of our Manchester hospital, both new facilities demonstrate our ability to identify and invest in emerging customer needs.

I would like to thank our patients, staff, consultants, Nottingham City Council and the many contractors who have been instrumental over the past two years in building what is undoubtedly one of the best independent hospitals in the country, and which brings together medical and surgical expertise and clinical care to serve those locally and beyond."
