Thanks pearlfisher. It's a particular bug bear of mine and this stock seems particularly prone to it !

I agree with you Bluebell. Lowest broker target since Dec has been 20.75, the highest 23.00. Spectris management has been sure footed up to now and I see no reason to change my positive view on them. Not the highest yield but a class act. Sold at £17 last year, bought back in £16 and have topped up twice since Wednesday's dip. This is a medium to long term holding for me.

Same here Enami - all auto triggers IMHO :

Bank of America Merrill Lynch cuts Spectris to underperform from neutral, target 2,080p from 1,820p.

How can you rate something as 'underperform' and publish a target price almost 15% higher than the current one ? How many stocks do they have on their list which they seriously think will put on 15% ? !!!

Quite a big gap down today, probably due to this -

New closing high today although, as you say, there has been a higher intra day figure.

Missed this RNS yesterday.

Spectris plc today announces that it has signed an agreement to sell its Fusion UV Business ('Fusion') to Heraeus Holding GmbH ('Heraeus') for a total cash consideration of US $172 million, the post-tax proceeds of which will be used to pay down debt.

Thanks Enami. Don't know what will happen by the close, but intraday £20 didn't cause any resistance.

Aye going well again today, note that the FTSE250 is only 30 points short of the high reached last year 12211.34 (ATH achieved in May 2007 was 12282, just 100 points above where the FTSE250 is as I type)

Thanks Bluebelle, I must admit to neglecting things here as no longer a holder.

Previous (weekly) chart target posted at the IMS 19 Dec IMS target 2307 still intact.

Daily chart here Fib target 2225 more reasonable I think. Climbing to the top of the FTSE250, maybe can be FTSE100 candidate at March review.

Good results. A lot of these stocks have been marked down over so far misplaced fears on problems with the sector only to bounce sharply when results are announced. Unless you think the world is going to Hell in a handcart, there's still good value in many stocks which are 20% or more off their earlier in the year peaks IMHO.

Must be time for a chart.

Weekly chart upside Wave 5 Fib target a shade over 2300 - that price would put into FTSE100 promotion territory.

Seems the market likes the IMS today, up 7+% on opening.

More than made up for the Morgan Crucible effect from last week.

0910 GMT [Dow Jones] N+1 Singer cuts Spectris (SXS.LN) to hold from buy and target to 1780p from 1950p, ahead of Spectris 3Q IMS next week. "We would not expect the group to completely shrug off the weaker market conditions being reported by capital goods groups across from the UK and overseas." it says. Reduces its forecast for organic sales growth for 2012 to 3% from 5% as weaker global manufacturing PMIs and industrial production numbers suggest a tougher backdrop in 2H.
