0851 GMT [Dow Jones] Peel Hunt downgrades Spectris (SXS.LN) to hold from buy, noting the shares are up almost 30% year-to-date and now sit just 2% below its 1700p price target. Still, says the company's final results are strong and confirm the progress on margin and continuing push into emerging markets. Says, "The high-quality management team and conservative guidance compensate for limited visibility." Shares trade 2.3% higher at 1698p.

sMMT car production numbers at the highest level for 16 months and SXS are excited about all of there divisions

Commenting on the results, John O'Higgins, Chief Executive, said: "We are very pleased with the results achieved in 2011, and particularly with the strong close to the year. Looking ahead, the macro-economic outlook is uncertain. Our recent acquisitions bring more resilient earnings whilst providing opportunities in growth markets and the Board is therefore confident that Spectris is strategically well positioned for the coming year."
