22/12/2005 08:05 | New investment - link in header. ...made a £500,000 investment in Tynda Forest Holdings Limited ('Tynda'). Tynda is a private and established forestry products company based in the Amur region of Russia's Far East. This investment represents 1.5% of the Tynda enlarged share capital. The investment will help Tynda increase its capacity to meet growing Asian demand, reduce its harvesting costs and expand its base of wood products. Tynda is a forestry products company with a 30 year history in the Russian Far East. Its primary business is harvesting trees on long term timber cutting rights and the export of logs to the fast growing Asian market. Tynda operates wood processing and MDF manufacturing facilities for both the Chinese and domestic market. SovGEM believes investing in Tynda is an excellent opportunity for SovGEM to take advantage of the developing domestic demand growth in China by investing in an industry leader. Tynda is expected to seek a public listing in the next year. Tynda's non Executive Chairman is Peter Hambro, Chairman of Peter Hambro Mining PLC. So this early-stage investment might get a considerable uplift in value at the IPO stage. | jonwig
21/12/2005 09:26 | Theres no need to pay 9.5p like someone has this morning. Comdirect and ShareViewDealing will give you 100K for 9p. These 2 online brokers give the best prices in my experience. | hugepants
20/12/2005 18:23 | Yes and 2 more 650K trades today at 9.5 and 9.45 PS. Harbin is really going well, up 6% today so far to new all time high. Bodisen up 5% (after 3% fall yesterday). AOB down 3% today after 3.5% fall yesterday. | hugepants
19/12/2005 17:58 | 650k at 9p gone through. last time we had a big block at the bid was when the chairman bot 500k at 6p. Maybe this is him topping up ? | nappers
19/12/2005 14:40 | biggest discount I own besides SOV is BPFU. Blue Planet Growth & Income. Near 30% discount investment trust even after terrific growth all year. | jhan66
19/12/2005 14:08 | Thanks for the above. EPA and SVE added to my watchlist | hugepants
19/12/2005 13:45 | Yep - SVE is at 50% discount to small-cap mainly resource sector portfolio. I have just posted a rough calculation of holdings FWIW. | nappers
19/12/2005 10:10 | H-P, I posted this earlier, but didn't look again at it. jonwig - 8 Dec'05 - 19:44 - 124 of 150 edit EnterpriseAsia [EPA] might be worth a cursory glance for comparison/contrast. Asset discount is 33%, and its admin costs are astronomical. If ours were at 33% discount, the share price would be 13p. | jonwig
19/12/2005 10:07 | Just out of interest does anyone know of any other investment-type companies at a similarly large discount to NAV? | hugepants
19/12/2005 00:15 | John, Yes I agree. I make cash per share to be 9.25p which is the current share price. NAV must be in excess of 18.5p now given HRBN up 7% and Bodisen up about 15% since 9 Dec. AOB is at $4.81 (purchase price was $4.80) after 9.5% rise on Friday. | hugepants
17/12/2005 15:55 | Nappers - post#144...? (Though subject to revision) | jonwig
17/12/2005 14:20 | Anyone have a guesstimate of the cash position now after the AOB stake ? | nappers
17/12/2005 12:12 | jim_black, hi. Someone else had difficulty; it's explained in posts #136-139, above. | jonwig
17/12/2005 11:25 | If Im right AOB rose 10% yesterday. Am I looking at the right AOB Not currently holding any. | jim_black
17/12/2005 08:45 | Have updated header NAV. Maybe it was wrong before, but the cash balance seems to have gone up! These are the inputted figures from the RNS, date of calculation 9 Dec: 250,000 AOB @ $4.80 70,000 BBC @$12.40 200,000 HRBN @$7.80 With 22,775,000 shares in issue and a conversion rate of £0.56 = $1 this means about £2,100,000 cash balance to get a NAV of 18.1p. | jonwig
16/12/2005 20:51 | Maybe SOV wished they had kept hold of their initial 450.000 shares in BBC,they seem to be holding steady at around $14.00. Think i should be following SOV into these. ABO ceo Tony liu had this to say, Today, with over 100 products in our portfolio and over 10,000 points of sale, we believe we are a far stronger and more diverse company than just one year ago," Liu continued. "With a stronger cash position and a more defined and effective distribution channel, we are able to target multiple growth strategies in addition to having the resources available to capitalize on complementary acquisition opportunities within the Chinese marketplace. We are initiating plans to penetrate new markets and drive organic growth in terms of both revenue and earnings, while positioning ourselves as a recognizable entity in China for plant-based herbal remedies. | milner2
16/12/2005 16:28 | AOB's price increase reflects what we all know, the Chinese consumer market is growing rapidly. China's economy has overtaken the uk's to become the fourth biggest in the world, by year 2010 its GDP will overtake the USA'S As China's population (all 1.1billion) increases its disposable income, so these manufacturing companies will become blue chip Co's. | milner2
16/12/2005 15:39 | AOB's beginning to move up now. It was up 3.5% yesterday and so far is up 3.5% today to $4.45. So almost up to the $4.55 which I think was the price on 9 Dec when the NAV was updated | hugepants
14/12/2005 15:45 | Cheers Guys got it under AMEX:AOB | nappers
14/12/2005 15:31 | AOB share price here. | hugepants
14/12/2005 15:29 | It's just AOB. | cochise
14/12/2005 12:55 | Can someone help me out. Placing was at 4.50 but I am getting 1.90 on USBB:AOBO - What am I missing ? | nappers
13/12/2005 15:29 | coverage by Sharecast. upbeat comment but nothing new | jhan66
13/12/2005 12:27 | Thanks. Just need to wait for some funds to come through so I can get hold of some of these. Hopefully (sorry!) the share price won't move too much higher before i can buy. | worc0670 |
