26/1/2016 06:11 | Somero Enterprises (LSE: SOM) has also seen a similar share price rise; since 2010, the company has seen an increase of its share price by 950%. Much like Ashtead it is focused on the US market mainly, and provides laser-guided equipment for levelling flooring. Sales in North America rose by 27% in the first half of 2015 but the management really want to crack the Chinese market. The shares trade on a cheap PE of 9 and pay a nice dividend yield of 3%. On 7 January, the company announced that sales were at an all-time high in December, and the company expects revenue to be ahead of expectations. This bodes well for the full-year results, and getting in before they are released may be wise. .. | m.t.glass

22/1/2016 09:40 | MT, Listening to PP's interview with the company they suggest that virtually anyone can back engineer the product. SOM though provide reliability, training and a 10 min service guarantee which is obviously really important with a 1 hour window before the concrete sets. I was very impressed with the management and also their comments on outlook and cautious nature concerning the balance sheet. They seem very keen to be in a great financial position for the next cyclical downturn. | cockerhoop
22/1/2016 09:12 | Absolutely MT. | market sniper3
22/1/2016 08:55 | carcosa - in the vast majority of instances, it is not in a contractor's interest to go slower than their competitors; it is hugely beneficial to be able to offer a shorter timescale. | m.t.glass
22/1/2016 08:50 | If it is true, as they claim in PP Interview, that their machinery lays concrete 5 times faster than conventional methods then surely for many projects the machinary would pay for itself? (Or is it in the contractors interests to take as long as possible to complete a project as that is more profitable for them???) | carcosa
22/1/2016 08:46 | I too have a 30yr background in the design and construction of buildings. And I agree. The market for such products clearly exists - and Somero hold an established dominance within it. They might not always do so if Chinese or other equipment makers find ways of bypassing the company's particular patents - but for now they are in a strong position. There are other makers who produce machines that compete with Somero in specific parts of the concrete floors business - mostly focussed entirely on the finishing screed, a few on the structural slab; but Somero can do both. | m.t.glass
21/1/2016 01:23 | Im in the construction industry and can say this is a fantastic technical offering, presently my company are in talks with SOM Management. | market sniper3
21/1/2016 01:13 | The main draw here is that the products are unique, a market leader with no real competition. I'm 90% out of equities right now but watching this closely for a re-entry. | breaktwister

20/1/2016 20:25 | Paul, super interview and a lot of interesting points covered, especially the financing option the company are underwriting, it was good to hear the risk view they have on this. I like the managers here, they seem open and clear in how they run this business, quality. Thanks | owenski

20/1/2016 18:43 | Here is my audio interview with the CEO & CFO, recorded this afternoon. I hope investors find it interesting, and think I managed to ask most of the questions that investors submitted. A transcript will appear in a few days, once I've got it typed up. Regards, Paul Scott. | paulypilot
20/1/2016 07:24 | Not good if the buildings in china don't go up, no floors to level | onjohn
19/1/2016 09:30 | 165,000 shares through at 134p and a tick up. Hopefully clearance of an overhang. | rivaldo
18/1/2016 10:41 | Great to see SOM getting good coverage in the press. Latest forecasts from Canaccord are: last year - 14.9p EPS, 4.5p divi this year - 15.9p EPS, 4.8p divi That's a P/E of 8.8, which reduces by another 10% or so once the cash pile is stripped out. Looking forward to the interview this week Paul, cheers. | rivaldo
18/1/2016 08:52 | share price was 12p , now too expensive | rubberbullets
18/1/2016 08:50 | Great to hear Paul. I know you get a lot of grief on ADVFN boards at times, but I certainly appreciate your efforts. Keep up the good work! | closetinvestor
17/1/2016 14:02 | My next CEO audio interview is with Somero, this coming week. Should be interesting. If you would like to submit a question for me to ask, then please use the form on this link: (using this form collates all the quesions for me in one place, so saves time). I can't guarantee to ask every question, but I'll select the best questions to ask management, and to concentrate on the main themes that private investors want to hear about. I'll be asking them about the outlook, both in USA, and China, and how they see current downturn in global trade, resources, etc. I'm not charging the company a fee, so it's a genuinely independent interview, by an investor in the company (me!), for other investors. Regards, Paul. | paulypilot |
