I have taken profits but have retained a holding as there is a chance that an increased bid will come from another player. And 217p would look much better on the charts.

190p is still undervalued. Would be looking at 225p min. (based on current growth rates continuing).

Announcement regarding approach

The Board of Somerfield confirms that it has received an approach from Baugur
Group regarding a possible cash offer for the Company at 190 pence per share.
The approach envisages the current management continuing to run the business and
is subject to a number of pre-conditions, including the undertaking of due
diligence, financing, agreement with the trustees of the pension schemes
regarding the funding of the schemes and the recommendation of the Board of
Somerfield.

The Board is investigating this approach. There can be no certainty that an
offer will be forthcoming. The Board will make a further announcement in due
course.

Not exactly flying this morning is it? Still at least the price is staying over 160 and there was a bit of life at the start pushing over 163 temporally.
