29/8/2007 12:05 | Glory be!!! This pile of cr*p has just gone blue!! | izzywizzy
29/8/2007 08:28 | If that were to be the case, Mas, and SMC sort out the management issue, I could see this being having good potential as a recovery punt. Would need clear and continued support from the banks, which seemed to have been confirmed in the end July update. Still, not worth any risk now until the markets are healthier and the interims are out. | njp
28/8/2007 12:05 | I held AUK but sold them at 15.25p as soon as the merger discusions with SMC were revealed. Glad that I did since AUK have subsequently fallen 10%. If some kind of deal with AUK doesn't happen, I can then see SMC dropping below 20p. | masurenguy
28/8/2007 11:30 | Still think there's a valid business here and I did buy back in on the end July trading statement, only to cash them in on the uncertainty of the Aukett merger. I guess it's that uncertainty that's causing the drift at the moment, and with the market as it currently is, there are better bets around than SMC. | njp

16/8/2007 07:16 | Hi PAAG, You haven't missed much at all, an RNS was issued by SMC on the 8 Aug stating the following:- SMC Group Plc ("SMC" or the "Group") Merger discussions The boards of SMC and Aukett Fitzroy Robinson Group plc ("AFR") announce that they have entered into non binding heads of agreement relating to a proposed merger of the two companies. Shareholders are advised that the discussions are at any early stage and a final agreement is subject to extensive commercial, financial and legal due diligence. There can therefore be no guarantee that agreement on the final terms of the merger will be reached or that the merger will proceed. The proposed merger would create a group with some 890 staff with operations in 38 offices across nine countries. Further announcements will be made as appropriate. SMC is also pleased to announce that it yesterday received formal approval from the Bank of Scotland for an increase in the quantum and term of the Group's debt facilities. The new facilities will allow the Group additional headroom commensurate with current and expected trading. --------------- After this RNS the share price rose a little to 29p but has since fallen back, no more news has been issued since | m0270h00
