16/5/2014 00:41 | Plasbryn - Small caps have done well. What hasn't? Emerging markets and commodities. You can get good yields at BRCI and HEFL. They are trading at a slight premium but the shares they are invested in are a bit bombed out, although now off their lows. | aleman
15/5/2014 18:57 | Interesting charts with respect to the 200ma's Thing is with income and growth stocks is that its a bit like a fashion statement. I suspect when the FT100 really starts to make new highs a lot of its constituent parts will be show ever decreasing yields and everyone will be hooked on growth. Perhaps Aberdeen small will then have its day in the sun. It is all indeed about changing horses or rather selling one horse and waiting for new suitable to come along. SDV has done me proud, I even got a free dinner out of the liquidity squeeze and placing dip. I will miss it like a faithful friend., GKA. | envirovision
15/5/2014 17:39 | Time to change horses. I've top sliced. Having bought in at 80p, it has been a wonderful ride. | lord gnome
15/5/2014 17:12 | Aleman: Do you have a large cap, Income paying Investment Trust you like? As for individual stocks, I like S & U (SUS) & GVC Holdings (GVC) | plasybryn
15/5/2014 16:57 | It's definitely the case that small and midcaps have had a good run while the FTSE100 has dawdled. I think many investors will be changing horses. | aleman
15/5/2014 16:50 | Strange how these indices have performed so poorly compared the FTSE 100. Heightens the regard we should have for SDV who have continued to out-perform. David (Fund Mgr) is a very switched on guy. Look at his other Unit Trust Fund, Chelverton UK Equity Income Fund. I hold both. I take your word of warning Aleman. Thanks | plasybryn
15/5/2014 16:38 | Here are the FTSE mid and small cap indices. We need a bounce or a sharp fall looks imminent. | aleman
15/5/2014 16:27 | I sold out of ASCH a while back. I didn't care for the change of policy with a new investment manager. What kind of idiots switch a high income trust into growth stocks? Is it time to sell in May and go away? The moving averages for ASCH look bad but it might be okay if it bounces back quickly. Dropping through the 200-day average is usually good for a rapid 10% off. Trouble is, a drop of 10% there would likely see something similar here, although hopefully the better dividend would offer slightly more protection. Maybe only 8% off? :-o | aleman
15/5/2014 16:17 | envirovision: was that wise. Don't like the look of the ASCL chart. How about AIF,EAT or LWI? | plasybryn
15/5/2014 16:15 | Are you no longer in ASCL or interested in it anymore Aleman ? Remember you were a big fan in 08/09 | envirovision
15/5/2014 16:12 | I've sold out of this one now, I have my eye on ASCH which unlike this one trading above nav is trading at a huge discount to nav | envirovision
15/5/2014 16:04 | It seems to be playing catch up with other income investment trusts that all seem to be trading at a slight premium these days. | aleman
15/5/2014 15:43 | How is this going up day after day when so many AIM stocks & FTSE 250 stocks are under pressure? | plasybryn

23/4/2014 20:28 | Yes, it's been a great share for me. Looks like it's heading towards £2 again. | topvest
23/4/2014 13:07 | I suspect this is headed toward a premium to nav again. | envirovision
23/4/2014 12:58 | It would be rather nice (and perhaps not that unlikely) if they were to pass the special dividend from Avesco to us shareholders. I am looking to lighten up on a portion of my holding, but I don't want to bet against that chart. | lord gnome
23/4/2014 12:41 | The Company announces: Total Assets (including unaudited revenue reserves at 17 April 2014) of GBP40.78m Net Assets (including unaudited revenue reserves at 17 April 2014) of GBP31.43m The Net Asset Value (NAV) at 17 April 2014 was: Number of shares in issue Per Ordinary share (bid price) - including unaudited current period revenue* 189.90p 16,550,000 Per Ordinary share (bid price) - excluding current period revenue* 183.37p Ordinary share price 182.50p Discount to NAV (3.90)% Ordinary shares have an undated life ZDP share 110.01p 8,500,000 ZDP share price 117.00p ZDP shares are held in a subsidiary and have a redemption date of 8 January 2018 *Current period revenue covers the period 01 May 2013 to 17 April 2014, including a one off special dividend from Avesco PLC of GBP500,500 equivalent to 3.02 pence per Ordinary share. | aleman
15/4/2014 20:08 | Thanks for your thoughts Aleman. Slow but steady dividend growth appears to be underway. The future is unknown but I think these will find a way into my portfolio. | redbull6
15/4/2014 19:36 | They tried to roll ZDPs in 2007 but the market was not receptive and switched to bank debt. This had to be reduced in the recession with unfortunate effects on the dividend. In 2012 they switched back to ZDPs and expanded gearing again. It seems to be the preferred method of gearing so I would imagine they will attempt to roll ZDPs in 2018. It is impossible to say what will happen at the time as it will depend on markets but a continuation would seem the most likely outlook until markets change. If things change, they could opt for more gearing, less gearing and/or bank debt. Who can predict the future? | aleman
15/4/2014 17:17 | This looks an interesting investment to help with portfolio diversification. Can you tell what effect the redemption of ZDP shares will have on the ordinary share price and NAV ? | redbull6

04/4/2014 08:54 | Interesting price action graph, 50 about to cross 20 ma and price now safely above 50 ma support. The chart probably tells us more about the health and outlook of the mid to small cap sector more than anything though. | envirovision |
