Well happy new year to all of you busy posters!Have to say my ad-hoc checkin to see how we're progressing was a little dampened by zero activity on the thread. At least there's some movement in the SP, another run? Or another DCBounce?

Some interesting targets, but almost all at a very early stage. I see SLN are back to the bad old ways of shooting in every direction. I thought this might be one of the downfalls of getting the cash, scatter gun.

Nope. The next largest is Henderson Global fund at 9.49%.

Are about to get another update? 720k (£1.65m) has been bought today as showing a 'O' trade.

Unless a mistake and actually a delayed one?

So two people hold 48% between them , without looking all through RNS's any other large holders ?.

pwilk, no idea as don't really follow SLN much, but not one I can identify. I'd be careful of anything on that website linked (directors talk clone). As to keith, 2.4% as a spreadbet. Maybe he knows something or maybe he's a gambler?

Waterloo1... Maybe somewhere in the food chain where we pick up licensing money through use of our technology in some shape or form?

Robert Keith adding. Was 20%, now 23%.

Richard Griffiths hasn't unloaded and still remains at 25%.

A few reports suggesting the world RNAi therapeutics is hotting up.

Bodes well and finally hopefully getting put of the share price slump after the placing a few months ago at £2.50.

Somebody else adding now given spike at end of day? Robert Keith presumably slowly but surely accumulated during the £2 days we have hopefully now seen the back of!

The biotech, formed in 2007 with microRNA assets from Isis ($ISIS) and Alnylam ($ALNY), is also working on preclinical candidates for cancer, fibrosis and metabolic disease alongside partners including GlaxoSmithKline ($GSK), Sanofi ($SNY) and AstraZeneca ($AZN).

Don't see SLN here but might be wrong.

Obviously it's all about how long your view is, but I am pleased I exited this a few months ago even if I had to take a c. 25% loss. How do others feel about this? To me it looks like nothing material has happened for a long time and there seems to have been scant progress with either existing collaborations or with forging new ones. For me it's all about whether SLN has the know how and networking skills to become a big player in the RNAi space. From where I sit it looks like the jury is still out and is not about to return anytime soon. Good luck all LTHs.

NICE hits the news today re another new drug costing £90k for a 14 month treatment . The drug targets mutated gene type Her-2 positive breast cancer tumours and is claimed can extend life by another 6 months.

As I have said before all the new current cancer drugs in pharma pipelines are based upon pre-clinical trials some of which go back nearly 15 years, the time taken to get a lot of these drugs approved and to market , hence their expense.

There is NO CANCER DRUG yet on the market that can attack and switch off a genetic mutated cell BEFORE the onset of a cancer.

This will be the only way of stopping a cancer before it gets started.

All other current trials are about extending life , mostly by months not years , and nothing gets said about the quality of that life extension.

Such drugs that attack cancer tumours cause damage to other organs, because they are so powerful and put simply are in effect a poison , hence they can only be administered in small measured doses.

The FDA in its wisdom insists that pre clinical ACUTE TOXICOLOGY TESTS are carried out using animals, one rodent species and one non rodent species.

Hence the mouse, rat and dog are the usual candidates.

Clinical trials on humans go ahead based upon the animal data , which gives about a 50/50 coin flip outcome as human systems do not function the same as mice as it happens.

The liver , heart , brain and kidney are the main organs that suffer. Quite a few of the approved drugs, not just cancer drugs , get withdrawn due to toxicity issues in humans which occur sometimes years after taking them. These include long term damage to organs resulting in loss of proper function or death.

Re the news today.............

NICE will no doubt negotiate an acceptable price re the above drug.

Her-2 tumour molecular diagnostic testing to ascertain the tumour type will be required to ensure the patient benefits and the taxpayer does not see his money get wasted.

Are you coming to the East Coast?

We'll sort something out, March is still pretty warm as well, so good time of the year. Let me know the locations you are going to, so I can offer some advice (we'll take it offline so as not to make everyone else jealous!).
