By the way, new management are going to Brazil and meeting the team in Switzerland so we should get some feedback from them when they come back.

The advantage of having a 3 year view is that I don't really care if the share price goes up now or in a few months. With 31p cash already indicated by September (I suspect it will be more) one can now buy 62.5p of assets for 23p - my kind of share and is why Sigg could be your best performing investment by the end of 2013.

dvi,

Only great news if the share price starts responding and closing the discount to NAV.

Strong performance in December by the looks of it. Estimated NAV at 31/12 is 93.48p. Revised upwards in November and so maybe a little more to come.

Eeza. I'm much more relaxed than most about the rump, which I guess is why I have continued to buy in size all the way down. I feel that the outgoing management were underplaying the liquidity of the property assets over the next year. It will be interesting to talk to the new management over the coming months.

Cheers tiltonboy, have sent.

Yes, hopefully 2013 will prove to be an even better year for value/contrarian investors. Have had a cracking 2012 but am aware that there's a slice of luck involved with some of the higher-risk plays I've made. Am trying to reign this in and play more to Seth Klarman's comments about aiming to achieve 10ish% a year, year-on-year, as opposed to the topsy-turvy returns to be expected from aiming for 20-30%+, but the gambling side of me makes it easier said than done!

Good luck all in SIGG. Let's hope that 'the rump' is a slow-cooked, veritable feast as opposed to decaying innards. :-)

Hezza,

No problem. Send it to me at hotmaildotcom.

Once the 31p distribution is made the problem is the 'rump' and what value it has.

I paid 40p for my top up of dte hezza but I did the numbers and didn't mind paying up. Trying to sort out a conference call with management. I could see why you added to sigg though as there looks a clear exit strategy over a two year period with 31p ish back by the autumn. Not wishing to ramp but I have done nothing else but buy Spl recently after that washy washy update. I think there is reason to be optimistic for us contrarians in 2013.

I was thinking that too, deepvalueinvestor. Maybe the orders are being done via TDW! At least you got some DTE. Had them on my screen at 28/31 for weeks but choose to invest pre-Christmas bonus money in SIGG as DTE went 30/33 in the blink of an eye following the announcement. Gah! Still a nice MOS at the current price but annoying nevertheless... Good luck in SPL. Another one that resides on the 'watch' section of my screen as fully invested now. Could explode in the next few months.

tiltonboy - Any chance I can drop you an email? Think I know it from another thread so no need to post it up here.

They don't seem very bright buyers. All very odd. Perhaps a broker has an order from a client but they have had the trainee dealers working on it due to the holiday season!

I noticed the buying over the last couple of days, but felt they were overpaying given the seller's apparent desire to get out. This was confirmed by having my bid at 53.5p hit in the closing auction.

Interesting volume going through in recent days. The buyer was ignoring the official offer at 55.25p and dealing at 55.75p yesterday. They were back again today and happy to deal in size. Also note the 300k purchase at the close. With new management starting next week it is no surprise that perhaps even connected parties are buying. It remains one of my preferred investments for what I feel will be a tricky 2013. Spl is number 1 but sigg is not far behind. Interesting times. 2013 will be the year of the value investor, you heard it here first!

Aye, and another chunky UT just gone through at 54.5p - 200,000 this time. At least it would appear that somebody else is keen to pick these up following the Weiss reduction...

Some decent business on the board; 200k on the bid, but 580k on the offer.

Took a small slice of these earlier. Been watching them nudge lower over recent weeks but the rot has to stop, surely, with the NAV, if anything, gradually increasing over this period. Cue: topping up next week at 50p... :-)
