28/11/2013 10:39 | ScotsmanSigma Capital in £700m house-building dealby PETER RANSCOMBEPublished on the28 November 2013 09:28Print thisSIGMA Capital, the Edinburgh-based property developer in which Sir Tom Hunter holds an 11 per cent stake, has created a £700 million joint venture with Gatehouse, a Shariah-compliant investment bank based in London.Prime Minister David Cameron and Business Secretary Vince Cable have thrown their backing behind the venture, which aims to built up to 6,600 houses for rent.Initially, the joint venture will spend about £200m constructing 2,000 houses, mainly in the north-west of England, based around Sigma's partnerships with local councils in Liverpool and Salford.Cameron said the deal showed Britain was "open for business", while Cable hailed the jobs that will be created in the construction industry. The announcement from Sigma had been long awaited, with the firm having used its full-year results in April to update investors on its negotiations with "institutional and private equity finance". | h2owater

28/11/2013 10:10 | I think its beginning to sink in how big this could be and how small the current market cap is. someuwin 28 Nov'13 - 10:07 - 354678 of 354678 0 0 SGM ...£700m joint venture agreed with Gatehouse Bank plc to support the roll-out of one of the UK's largest portfolios of new private rented residential homes ...Gatehouse real estate portfolio worth in excess of GBP1 billion across the UK and US. ...The new homes will be built on land procured and developed by Sigma and the model is underpinned by Sigma's existing three local authority partnerships, with Sigma currently in discussions with other potential local authority partners. ...The Rt Hon. David Cameron, MP, Prime Minister and The Rt Hon. Vince Cable, UK Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, have confirmed their support of the joint venture. SGM valued at just £15m! | morriseyme
28/11/2013 10:05 | not easy buying shares here as stock is tight even if the company only receive 10% of the £700m joint venture that is still worth £70m to them. put that against the current market cap of £16m and you have huge upside here. Look what happened to COMS and CNEL recently on smaller deals. went on to rise 10 fold in a number of weeks. think you may well see £1 here before to long and that would only value the company at £35m | morriseyme |
