Duncan Doughnut - I have been in SRL since under its old name TRG in 2011. Do not worry about the delay in posting that article but I have always struggled to find a meaningful site which gives reliable information on rutile prices.

I have quite a few of these. In my view and that of several long termers either Pala are about to bid (they bid 30 pence in 2011 or there is a predator lining up a bid which may explain the share moves Friday 8th July in which case the shares must have come from one or two of the placees in the recent placing (cannot think of where else unless Investec still held some but below 3%)or there is a rerate going on given the hardening in prices and increased production.

Whichever the shares are under valued.

If you are interested in commodity stocks you might want to look at Berkeley Energia (BKY) but DYOR.

I would be interested in your chat room if you and your colleagues do not mind another member.

H1 results will either be between endish August and middle September. It will be interesting to see the impact albeit for a short time Gangama has made.

Good to have you on board. Plenty to go for with SRL imo.

Snowyflake, sorry, I had that article a month or so ago but I've been buying so I was not too keen to alert eveyone of the potential here until I had filled my position. I do a lot of commodity stocks, have done for years, it's only the past 6 months when I've started buying again. A few guys on a chat room I lurk on have been buying recently too. I bought my last tranch for now today until I see the results next month, unless there's a small pull back, which I hope but doubt we will see.

Regards

Duncan doughnut - many thanks for that link. If you do subscribe to Mintec and get an update at any point please try and notify us. Although dated 2 months ago it gives an insight into the way the Chinese market in titanium is looking.

nurdin - SRL have forward contracted most of their sales for this year. But orders are coming in over and above that contracted amount and those orders are being filled. What we do not know is at what price are the extra sales and even if the majority are at 2015 figures (see report of the company on its website) I believe that the extra sales are at a higher figure - by how much I do not know.

PS off topic. I note that you are invested in Paysafe in which I was invested when it was Neteller. Have a look at DJI Holdings which may be to your taste but do research it thorougly

rolo - I have discussed the future aims of the company with John Sisay at the 20154 and 2015 AGMs. At the 2015 AGM he advised me that the plan was to move to the main market. I mentioned lack of liquidity i.e. you need a free float of 25% and he explained that he wanted to get the price up and organise a placing to increase the free float.

The reality is that imo Pala are the company. Their mo is to invest, give expertise, see the value of the target improve, and then sell out (see their own website for e.g.s). I still think that Pala want to see the company sold.

Sales and MarketingCustomer destocking activity appears to have accelerated after Sierra Rutile experienced sales volumes increasing in the second quarter to a new quarterly record high. Volumes were higher than the same quarter a year ago, and were also higher than the second quarter in both 2013 and 2014.For the second half of the year, the vast majority of Sierra Rutile's product is committed. Improved market conditions have generated additional sales and Sierra Rutile is able to meet customer needs with production capacity from existing mining units and the successful commissioning of the Gangama Dry Mine. Customer interest in future supply is firm, helped by predictions that rutile supply from existing mines will decline through to 2020.As announced previously, sales into the titanium metal market resumed, marking the return of an important high-value end market for Sierra Rutile's premium rutile product. Purchases of rutile by European and Western pigment manufacturers remain on a solid footing and demand from the welding sector is picking up after a slow start to the year.ConclusionSierra Rutile continues to follow a sales led production plan for 2016 and beyond, and will produce to meet its sales requirements, with a focus on profitability over volume. This disciplined and flexible approach continues to position Sierra Rutile strongly versus its peers. It enables Sierra Rutile to focus on profitable cash generation even during periods of market weakness, whilst retaining the flexibility to respond quickly to increasing demand for its products.SFor Further

Share Magazine is behind the times. With Pala's expertise the mineS have been modernised and transformed. From dredgers to dry mining. Productivity up and growing. Orders for product stable and growing and it is anticipated that prices for the product will harden and as other mines become less productive prices could grow exponentially.

However I think ownership will change hands in the next few months and the stock is in play. But DYOR.

Superb on all fronts. Record production. Demand for product and I see prices firming in due course. This is due a serious re-rate and possibly a takeover.

This could be why - 3D printing as a new outlet?

Metalysis takes rutile, one form of titanium ore, and transforms it directly into powdered titanium using electrolysis, this shorter processing route is less energy intensive and hence more cost-effective. This lower-cost titanium powder can be used in a variety of new applications, previously considered out of reach for titanium due to the high raw material costs.

3D printing brings further cost benefits by reducing waste associated with machining components from solid billets.

"Professor Iain Todd, Director of the Mercury Centre explained: "There are significant challenges to overcome in taking emerging technologies like metallic 3D printing from the lab to production, not least of which is material cost. The step-change in terms of process economics that this material breakthrough provides, takes us ever closer to the time when 3D Printing of metals such as titanium is considered the norm rather than exceptional."

This has been waiting to happen; I have been waiting for 2 years or more!!! Infrastructure is in place. Very large high quality deposits. Gangama commissioned and producing. Rutile prices hardening. Second Quarter's figures awaited. Pala may want to exit or there may be an attempt to list this on the main market. Undervalued imo. but DYOR.
