Well I've bought a few. Think their business model is not very well understood. They have a profitable market making business, a profitable and growing asset management business and a break even investment banking business along with a volatile principal investment arm. The very substantial recent fundraise (on a mining company) will mean the outcome for the year should be OK. Below net asset value is a bargain in my view and the results are much less volatile than on a Cenkos or Panmure Gordon as this is fundamentally a different kind of business.

Shore Capital btw..another small fin. house ..I would not own 1 share even I was paid to ! the part they played in the OCH scandal and Invu and probably others ....too much imo small London finance houses, worst than second hand car salesmen imo....but perhaps not as bad as large London finance houses ! (Libor scandal etc) "DAN lr4850 30 Dec'13 - 12:20 - 6481 of 6485 0 0 Shea getting ready to fleece personal investors with MBO and shaft us totally - just like Evolve Capital did."

Yes, it was tipped in today's Daily Mail saying it was ready for a re-rating. It continued saying it owns a 58% stake in Spectrum Investments which owns a German company DBD. This has licences across Germany for Internet and wireless comms and will use them to offer 4G services. Lucky for some perhaps worth a punt still.

ANy interest in forming an action group to work to have the FSA remove the licenses that SGR has ? looks like Shore Capital may be a company and a broker to avoid if one is concerned about risks wrt integrity etc. here is a extract from news release from Sharesoc about one company that Shore Capital is/was broker to. (OCH, Shareholder action group set up to act against the 2 exec. dirs and Shore Capital) "Incidentally Shore Capital seems to come to our attention quite regularly as the Nomad/Broker of companies where shareholders are unhappy (Lees Foods, Lighthouse Group, Solo Oil recently for example" ---- SHore Capital issued the paperwork for the OCH EGM in Dec 2012.... and it appears to be an intentional misrepresentation of the truth. Imo the initial OCH was also an intentional misrepresentation of the truth, SGR made millions from the OCH IPO. (there is a lot more info over the OCH Action Group thread about what has happened at OCH)

Don't have shares in this company so not going to ramble on much except to say to any holders that they might want to have a look back in the thread. Shore do as they please and are incredibly out of touch with reality. Unless they have made some dramatic changes to their style and attitude I would stay well clear of them.... all IMHO ! FSE - 20 Mar'09 - 14:36 - 74 of 104 edit The way Shore Capital is run guarantees it a place with the dinosaurs, quite simply the world has moved on and they are stuck back in the mid 1980's. They seem to feel they can do what they want and put a finger up to all concerned ..... what effect is the share buy back having ? I would agree with the 8p price as best guess ...... but who knows what is going on here it could be worse. By the way they handle PGB Pilat Media which has just been taken over so theres another client gone... not that its that big a deal but ...

Shore capital is looking for acquisitions to grow the business, and I feel that MAM Funds Plc (MMf) could be an earning enhancing acquisition for the business. MAM Funds has around £1.6 billion of funds under management and the market cap is currently only £15 million. These two businesses would have a very good "fit" and offer good synergy. Anybody else got any views on this? There has been a lot of talk about consolidation in the sector !

Somebody bought 0.5 million yesterday, and with no RNS, perhaps it wasn't SGR.

Hi DC, there were 2 announcements yesterday the second came after lunch, it was Shore that bought I would just like to know why, looks like they want to raise the NAV here Shore Capital Group plc (the "Company") announces that it purchased 3,354,319 of its ordinary shares of 2p each at an average price of 40p per share on Wednesday, 28 October 2009. All of these shares will be cancelled. http://www.advfn.com/p.php?pid=nmona&article=40093654&epic=SGR

I think Shore is trying to make himself the only shareholder. Somebody bought a load (volume 3.6m, normally less than 300k) yesterday, but so far no RNS from SGR. If it wasn't SGR, this could become interesting.
