Makes you feel like writing to that man Royston Wild and accusing him of totally incompetent advice and would he like to pay you back all the money that you had lost following his advice.lol

And tell him that he is the fool..

Yawn. Royston yet again. You're getting seriously boring Royston.

Re: Royston Wild has no position in any shares mentioned.

That may well be true, but he certainly seems to have a determination to post relentless negative articles on Shell for ages. Why would someone with no interest post so many negative articles on the Motely Fool?

Have a look at:

Below are a few typical Royston Wild headlines from 2016, but there are many more to choose from the link posted above throughout 2017 - commitment of the highest possible order. Is there a clue in the title Motely Fool?.

I've included below the Closing Price of Shell to give you an idea of how helpful his advice has been if the casual investor had taken it.

RDSB Shareprice today: £23.85

76% higher than when he posted his classic "I believe investors should resist attempting to pick up a bargain" when the RDSB share price was at £13.51.

That is why I personally choose to never take his opinion on Shell as anything other than comical. And irritating for the absolute lack of acknowledging how he's got it wrong on every prior "article".

But this one from March this year sums this poster up the best:

Why I’d never buy Royal Dutch Shell plc

Never? Lol.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands, December 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

The Board of Royal Dutch Shell plc ("RDS") (NYSE: RDS.A) (NYSE: RDS.B) today announced the pounds sterling and euro equivalent dividend payments in respect of the third quarter 2017 interim dividend, which was announced on November 2, 2017 at US$0.47 per A ordinary share ("A Share") and B ordinary share ("B Share").

Dividends on A Shares will be paid, by default, in euro at the rate of €0.3985 per A Share. Holders of A Shares who have validly submitted pounds sterling currency elections by December 1, 2017 will be entitled to a dividend of 35.02p per A Share.

Dividends on B Shares will be paid, by default, in pounds sterling at the rate of 35.02p per B Share. Holders of B Shares who have validly submitted euro currency elections by December 1, 2017 will be entitled to a dividend of €0.3985 per B Share.

This dividend will be payable on December 20, 2017 to those members whose names were on the Register of Members on November 17, 2017.

Taxation - cash dividend
Cash dividends on A Shares will be subject to the deduction of Dutch dividend withholding tax at the rate of 15%, which may be reduced in certain circumstances. Non-Dutch resident shareholders, depending on their particular circumstances, may be entitled to a full or partial refund of Dutch dividend withholding tax. Expected from 2018, Dutch and non-Dutch resident shareholders who are exempt from corporate income tax may elect for an exemption from Dutch dividend withholding tax instead of requesting a refund if tax was withheld.

Furthermore, in April 2016, there were changes to the UK taxation of dividends. The dividend tax credit was abolished, and a new tax free dividend allowance introduced. Dividend income in excess of the allowance is taxable at the following rates: 7.5% within the basic rate band; 32.5% within the higher rate band; and 38.1% on dividend income taxable at the additional rate.

If you are uncertain as to the tax treatment of any dividends you should consult your own tax advisor.

scobak - you're welcome.

Of course, Shell is planning to adapt to a future energy horizon that fully embraces EV, wind, solar, biofuels, hydrogen and of course LNG as prime generator during the 20-year transition phase etc. - my answer to you was purely focussed on the possible mix of future revenue takes via greedy government taxation.

And I'm all for that transition away from fossil fuels. Our planet is more important than our profits.

See the company New Motion. They are great and they're doing a superb job for the environment across Europe and the UK. And they are Shell.

Re your: Is electricity going to be taxed accordingly highly to make up the shortfall as electric vehicles gradually replace combustion engined vehicles........or is something else going to be equally highly taxed?

------------

Yes - of course. As soon as mainstream EV adoption is fully underway. But not before critical mass has migrated, then BAM!

All of a sudden, the opposite of the current position will occur - where electrical energy is currently cheaper overnight, this will become the target for taxing residential EVs at the highest rate for recharging in readiness for the next day's commute.

Rationale - to protect the integrity of the national grid.

An additional heavy tax levy will be charged on both the purchase and the disposal of current EV batteries.

Rationale - to protect the environment.

Huge import duties will raise revenue on lithium for Gen1 EVs between producer & builder countries.

Rationale - to garner taxes for environmental hedging against such products.

This will then be replaced around 2023-25 for serious duties on Gen2 EVs solid-state solutions tech based on metal air, sodium ion and magnesium multi-charged ions.

Rationale - EV tech is now mature and must finally share its tax burden as petrol once did. We ("the governments") can't raise tax any longer from previous vehicle taxing models for hospitals and schools etc. so modern vehicle tech must pay its way.

City congestion charges will shift from pollution-based to physical vehicle footprint and zonal timing.

Rationale - pollution is no longer the prime issue - cities are cleaner but the population has burst higher as a result - the only thing left to tax is the physical space that you are using and how long you're using it for.

Luckily we can do it no probs - technology will by then allow a mandatory direct debit from your Bitcoin/Ethereum virtual wallet and ANPR-updated security scanners will download your vehicle dimensions and chronological movements to a cloud-based repository to offer you discounts for car pooling schemes.

Aaaarggh!

Just my take - let's see if I'm proved wrong.

In the meantime, any forward looking energy company that is aiming to deliver the LNG to facilitate the huge electricity generation required by this dystopian future must be a rather Strong Buy. Can anyone recommend such a company?

What is going to replace the enormous tax take currently based on hydrocarbons and particularly petrol and diesel? Is electricity going to be taxed accordingly highly to make up the shortfall as electric vehicles gradually replace combustion engined vehicles........or is something else going to be equally highly taxed?
