BG - JUST SAY NO!

quitting the UAE project is apparently another move to pave the way for the BG acquisition. if this is true, the management is completely bonkers. it will end up in tears.

i just dont want to see the management destroy our company. management have destroyed perfectly good businesses many times before by making over-optimistic acquisitions. imo this could rank up there with AOL-Time Warner and RIO Tinto-Alcan. BG might be an excellent fit, but it does not stack up on the financials with oil sub $40, let alone at $28.

imo dividend cut is virtually guaranteed if the deal goes ahead. only thing to save it is a miraculous bounce in energy prices to at least $60

In the event of a dividend cut, this would be regarded as a shattering blow not only by investors, but the market as well.I do not see how van Beurden could survive if this came to pass.

the dividends will have to be spread across many more shares. imo looking at a 50% dividend cut at least.

In the BG deal how many extra shares are proposed to be issued in this dilution, and if a percentage figure of the increase,is available,it would be useful to know. Can anyone help? If the slumping oil price is not enough, the resulting dilution will further damage the share price.

this will be one of the most stupid deals of all time if it goes ahead.
because it is so obviously a bad deal, investors and commentators have warned it makes no sense and is bad for shell shareholders, and they can still pull it.

wipo1 good post. this deal is massively value destroying for shell shareholders. the bosses said at the start it made sense at $70 a barrel. but with oil at this price it is a disaster.

wipo, can see the bearish take, from a valuation point of view
it is whether the current share price now allows for that.
There are huge costs to be taken out so not quite as stark as it looks
at first glance on your example.

Anyway added at 13.38

The last time oil was hovering around this price Bg groups average share price was around 280p.As the share price suggests Rdsb have diluted existing shareholders to pay for this deal.
