wildmanof: Anyone got any thoughts on why Senior's share price has been on a consistent down trend for some time - even worse than the 2008 crisis? For years, Senior used to hold up well but not so now. Can't find much info/chat to get a better picture. Obviously, there's all the global problems re oil, China,US,Europe etc creating a negative background but nothing that explains what's happening to Senior's share price or, more to the point, why? Had thought the prospect of Iran wanting to replace its aging aircraft with 100* Airbuses would have boosted the share price but the prospect seems to have had no impact (yet). Senior doesn't seem to be a share that generates much chat on forums etc. Can't understand why.

broadwood: Despite upgrading the stock's rating, the broker downgraded its earnings per share forecasts. For 2015, it reduced EPS expectations by 6pc to reflect increasing headwinds in Senior's Flexonics business - which manufactures heat exchange solutions for the energy and diesel engine markets. Thomas Rands, of Investec, said: “We believe our new forecasts not only capture the current headwinds, for Flexonics, but also build in some contingency.” Investec also reckons management will confirm conditions have deteriorated across its truck, automotive, power and energy markets over the past two months. Analysts do not forecast growth in operating margins in its aerospace division. However, amid the negatives, Investec believe Senior's “programme positions, operational flexibility, good and consistent cash generation and robust balance sheet” are all attractive - and undervalue the group at its current share price

imastu pidgitaswell: I put the attached post up a couple of years ago. Today, it can be updated for the latest info (see end). While massageable numbers like earnings, divdends etc are up, I still can’t see that a lot has changed since the days of a 24p share price in terms of operating cashflow, and in terms of operating cashflow per share. Debt also up significantly. Yet the shares trade some 12-15 times higher. Odd business, the stockmarket… imastu pidgitaswell 28 Aug'13 - 16:37 - 2403 of 2595 0 0 edit Not intended negatively, I promise, but reading post 2386, and as a purchaser of quite a lot of these at 25p (believe it or not I sold for prices between 35-40p...) back in 2009, I have to ask what the upside in these at this point? broadwood: This'll do nicely. Canaccord Genuity has upgraded its recommendation on manufacturing group Senior (LON:SNR) to A533;buyʏ33;" from A533;holdA533;", stating that the current share price offers a good entry point for investors. The broker pointed out that the shares are off 17 per cent since the beginning of the year, which it attributes to the mid-cap engineering sell-off. However, it reckons that the visibility of revenue streams and relative stability of earnings are increasingly attractive compared to peers. SWe believe Seniorᦙ3;"s 99% aerospace OE exposure (66% of Group revenue) provides investors with high medium-term conviction for organic top line growth comparative to peers who have a greater mix exposure to the aftermarket,⬝ Canaccord added. Target price remains unchanged at 325 pence a share.

broadwood: A flat share price on a very down market day. I'll take that. - Revenues up six per cent, adjusted profits rise eight per cent - Net debt below forecasts, total divi up 10 per cent - FX a headwind in 2014 Manufacturing group Senior beat forecasts with its annual profits for last year and gave a strong outlook for 2014, but warned of 'uncertainty' with regards to volatile foreign exchange (FX) movements. The company, which operates through its two main divisions of Aerospace and Flexonics, reported a 6% rise in revenue in 2013 to £775.1m, although growth was just 3.3% on an organic, constant currency basis. The company said results were helped by organic revenue growth in large commercial aerospace and a full year's contribution from GAMFG Precision, the precision-machining business acquired towards the end of 2012. Adjusted pre-tax profit rose 8% to £98.1m, ahead of Jefferies' £97.8m prediction. The company's net debt position of £59.2m, down £12m year-on-year, was also better than expected, "leaving the group well placed to fund future organic and acquisitive growth", according to Chief Executive Mark Rollins. Senior has declared a final dividend per share (DPS) of 3.6p, bringing the total DPS for the year to 5.12p, up 10% year-on-year. The company said that the 2014 financial year has "started satisfactorily" with underlying results expected to be in line with expectations. "However, volatile foreign exchange movements add more uncertainty to the reported group outcome for the year," said Chairman Charles Berry. According to analysts at Jefferies, the results "make for good reading" and the outlook statement is "very robust from an underlying perspective, although there continues to be an FX headwind". "Senior is well placed for future growth we believe, but due to FX, we expect to see consensus forecasts drift down modestly."
