Results out - I'm rather glad I sold! Adjusted EPS was down 11% to 33.9p, and the outlook for this year is grim due to increased investment, economic conditions etc. It'll be interesting to see what the revised forecasts are.

Long-term I'm sure SDL will thrive, and the new investment will help that process. Short-term is a different matter. In the meantime the share price has fallen to 439p, well below even my mooted 450p, and may fall further given the outlook.

I doubt the share price will be going anywhere fast for a while unless an opportunistic bidder comes along.

Good luck to holders anyway. There will be money to be made when the turnaround - eventually - comes as SDL is a quality company imho.

rivaldo, like I said in my previous post - good luck to you. Let's just agree to disagree on certain matters - and leave it at that.

rivaldo, I merely stated that, in my opinion, from reading your posts you tend to ramp shares then sell them. That's neither moaning nor complaining, just my opinion. I'll leave other BB readers, to judge whether or not they agree with me.

Please show me where, I suggested that you could personally increase a £400m market cap company's valuation, by around 30% in a month? The answer is, I didn't.

If you feel compelled to laugh at the "small credit" then please do so.

(pause while rivaldo laughs)

As for serious investment discussion, I bought SDL at 453p and intend to hang onto them, as I believe they will recover - time will tell. I'm not a short term trader; if a company has a decent product(s), with apparently promising long term prospects and competent management, I invest.

Good luck to you.

LOL!

I've come across TDay before. Same old story. Always moaning and complaining rather than concentrating on serious investment discussion.

I love the suggestion that I could personally increase a £400m m/cap company's valuation by around 30% in a month.

Especially when I've been almost the only poster on the thread for the entirety of that period.

You have to laugh, particularly at the grudging "small credit"!

Most posters on ADVFN don't tell you at all when they've sold!

Good luck to any other holders here.

bbluesky,

I've come across rivaldo before. Same story ramp, ramp then sell. Still, give him some small credit for his timing.

LOL! What on earth is bbluesky on about? :o))

It seems I got this one right - today's update is disappointing, with revenues and profits below recently downgraded expectations.

Can't see the share price going anywhere fast for a while, but it will certainly remain on my watchlist for re-entry at a suitable point.

"I sold my final tranche of shares this morning. It seemed the shares had lost momentum and a retreat was in prospect, so best to protect profits." Head to the loo, get the roll out and congratulate yourself (again)...

Can't complain at the gain from around 425p or so in just a month.

There should be a trading update soon judging by last year, so it may also be a good idea to take profits beforehand bearing in mind the problems which were being sorted out. Good luck all.

SDL Powers the Future of Translation Technology

New cloud connectivity creates opportunities for translation providers

MAIDENHEAD, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Dec. 18, 2012) - SDL (LSE:SDL), the leading provider of Global Information Management solutions, today announced a 38% increase over the last 12 months in upgrades of Trados Studio®. Since January, SDL has also enabled over 23, 000 new translators to connect from SDL Trados Studio to the BeGlobal® Community, SDL's cloud platform for secure machine translation.

Through this new integration, translators are now able to leverage secure cloud based automated translations to help increase productivity in the translation process and develop new post-editing business opportunities.

"For the last decade, our product strategy has focused on optimizing the translation process for hundreds of thousands of translation buyers and professional translators. With this new tight integration between our translation productivity tools and our secure, cloud-based machine translation, we have now opened up our technology to millions of additional multi-language speakers who want to work as content post-editors," said Keith Laska, CEO of SDL's Language Technologies division. "The rapid adoption we have seen this year is testament to the fact that we are synchronized with supporting our customers while opening up new avenues of growth for the company in a rapidly emerging area - secure machine translation."

In addition to creating new opportunities for post-editing via SDL BeGlobal Community, the latest release of SDL Trados Studio is also part of a unique solution designed for the regulated industries to accelerate the translation of regulated documentation through advanced tracked changes capabilities in a typical Microsoft® Word-based translation process. Tighter integrations within the SDL product family such as SDL WorldServer®, SDL BeGlobal and earlier versions of SDL Trados Studio also further streamline the translation process to drive adoption of complete solutions."
