roommove when you make your millions with scs perhaps you could switch sides and bail out lol . Expenditure rising , sales , margins and cashpile shrinking . These are true facts . Can anyone really see banks bailing them out because they need cash and quick . Rights issue at current share price is virtually impossible . No assets of any real value . This will go bust . At current share price the directors would be buying shares by the millions if they were confident . The economy is a bruttle machine that gets rid of the weaker players in times like this , not just retail sector but every sector . Apart from oil stocks theres not much to invest in at the moment . Every sector is getting battered because most are overvalued or struggling . Combine all this with the price of oil and this year and next will be the toughest this country has seen for decades . The next thing is scs and lol will be asked to clarify there trading position , when they admit how bad things really are its gameover . I cannot see either getting to the end of the month .

In a housing downturn these type of Companies are invariably always the first to go along with wideboy EA's, Sofa men are bottom of the league I'm afraid.
Cesspit Merchants out for a quick buck.

300,000 buy showing as a sell. I reckon someone has just bought 600,000+ shares.

I really think someone is buying in big time now. Confirmation, especially if its a director, and a strong bounce is almost certain.

grigor, thanks for your reply

bullet, no, my buy has still to appeared as well. Have to admit I hovered on the sell button when 10.75p was on offer. Not looking for a long term hold, as soon as it bounces I intend to sell.

roommove - I'm watching banks, house building, construction, real estate and related shares such as SUY.

I've no position in SUY and I wouldn't gamble on buying now.

If you wait until there are signs of a recovery, you may miss out on some of the gains but you would avoid the risk of the company failing.

I'm mostly invested in mid-cap oil and oil service companies with some soft commodity and emerging market plays. I'm keeping some cash up my sleeve and will review all these beaten up shares in 2009-2010.

From the Times. Id would say the fact ScS have paid their suppliers and have cash give them a fair chance of getting through the short term. Like many companies at the moment the long term will depend on many other things.

Both ScS and Land of Leather have issued cautions about diving sales and have cut television advertising, but they will need to order furniture for Christmas, nevertheless. Without insurance for their goods, suppliers will be demanding more cash up front from Land and ScS, but neither has much to spare. Land of Leather, which owed £53 million to suppliers in May, is negotiating with its banks over new loans by the end of July. ScS had £4.8 million cash left last month.

"We think ScS can survive, but the chances just got worse," Dresdner Kleinwort said. John Stevenson, of Shore Capital, said that there was a risk that both companies could go under.

grigor, its not good news I agree, hence the currenent valuation which is less than cash held. I do think these are oversold as the company is still profitable according to the last update. Which way do you see it going?

"The loss of a credit insurer is a significant problem for the five ScS suppliers out of a total of 14 who would borrow against invoices to the retailer to fund their working capital – banks make insurance a condition of providing funds on that basis."

Good luck.. Just bought back my 2k stake, sold last summer (at loss) for over £5000, bought them back for under £200. Probably £200 down the toilet but congratulating myself for cutting my losses last year!
